No chance. Not French enough.
Although I'm pretty sure Joe Kinnear signed him for us in exchange for a bag of balls.

I would think Rhodes' next move will be determined by the length of his current contract at Blackburn and their desire to cash in.

In the short-term he obviously did well for himself but he should have had the foresight to realise that to move for that amount of money, and on them wages, to a club not in the PL, he was probably pricing himself out of future moves, no matter how well he played.

He's still only 24, contract expires when he's 27. He'll be playing top flight by then and be in his prime.

Interesting comment in that article. 'The question is would he be good enough for Newcastle' I should think the question ought to be 'would Newcastle be good enough for Rhodes'

20% of any profit....so if he did indeed go for £9 then 20% of £1m is £200,000 (Not that I think this will happen) Would the remainder of the money owed by Blackburn have to be paid instantly? and therefore what implications if any does this have on ffp?

If he gets sold Blackburn would have to pay the total amount up front which wouldn't be ideal for us.
Should be in the Premier League and in my opinion he should've held out for a move there from us but it's easy for me to say that when there's nobody offering me around £40k a week. As has been said the price tag he has already moved for has made it difficult for a bigger team to seriously come in for him because it's a lot of money for someone who isn't proven at the top level. I think he would do well for a decent Premiership side though and score plenty of goals.

'The question is would he be good enough for Newcastle' I should think the question ought to be 'would Newcastle be good enough for Rhodes' He knows where the back of the net is - which is more than can be said for most players at Newcastle. On a more serious note, I hope he does end up playing in the Premiership. He deserves a chance to prove himself at that level, and I think he's more than capable of playing to that standard.

I like how that article talks about Danny Graham (Gateshead born, and Ex Middlesboro and Sunderland) being a failure in the Premier League despite scoring in the lower leagues...when the goals he scored in a struggling team in his full season in the Premier League would made him more or less Newcastles second top scorer over the last couple of seasons!! Theyre worse than we are...a Newcastle fan writing off Danny Graham would be like a Town fan not recognising Ross McCormacks goals!

If Rhodes doesn't play in the Premier League it will be simply because of his decision to take the tapped up offer of 40k a week at Blackburn (which is tough to turn down for a young lad, in such a precarious and short profession) but career wise many wondered if it was the right move for him at the time. I hope he does get a PL move because I think he could well be successful. But if he never gets the chance, he will be held up as a poster boy for lower league clubs wanting to turn down offers for their youngsters from outside the Premier League.

Not so sure about that? Ok he went for the money and in all honestly has continued to do well. He is financially well set up and I hope he does get the chance to show what he can achieve at PL club.

The guy's scored 6 league goals in 18 months, with 5 coming in the 2nd tier. And Swansea were hardly struggling when he was scoring. I don't blame Newcastle for writing him off.

His financial future is now secure and the lad is still in his early twenties, I suggest he has a burning desire to play in the PL or at least he should have.

On a slightly different note, but the same player, Stachan seems to have snubbed him when it comes to Scotland these days. Didn't even make the subs bench last night, and they had about a dozen on there. Seems to have not been included in selections for a while now, but what the hell does Strachan know. Still wonder what went wrong there though.

Still wonder what went wrong there though. Hes not really "snubbed" him as such. Simply they play one up front and Rhodes is down the pecking order in that role. If Scotland had some quality midfielders, as opposed to the grafters they have, then maybe they would play a system that suits Rhodes. Throw in that as a naive ill advised Englishman he got behind the London 2012 Team GB squad against the wishes of the Scottish FA, and he becomes easy to leave out.

Have you all forgotten he said as quoted by DH "under no circumstances does he (Rhodes) want to be a Huddersfield Town player. We gave him his chance. Disrespectful in my opinion. Although at least we made or will make £8 million plus add ons with future transfers
