In my opinion i feel like we dont press the ball high enough up the field,we give other teams too much time on the ball.it was the same 90% of last season and also again yesterday. We never will with clayts in the team playing as he is right now. We either need two new box to box lads who can get beyond the front men, clayts to play further upfield or for him to be sold - I know he is a good player, but part of the problem rests there IMO. Cues load of abuse re Hogg, Norwood etc. I agree with you.we have 3 players who do the same job in midfield and the gap from striker to midfield is too big.growing up as a lad i always got taught to press the ball and defend from the front.teams did this to us last season hence the reason we played the ball around our own half before goin back to smithies and a big humph up the field to a 5 foot nowt wells.the way we play is ineffective and plain to see for everybody

They didnt need to. I think they had one man chasing the ball across the back 3 whilst the rest sat back knowing that we would do nothing to move them out of position. The number of times our central defence had a clear 30 yards that they could carry the ball forward without being touched.... yet still we passed and passed for the sake of it until we either made a mistake or hoofed it forward. There are two things I'd want to change next year. When teams give us the space they do then we need to carry the ball forward. If we don't then we will never manage to drag them out of shape and there will never be space to play a passing game that takes us anywhere. The second is that when we do get the opportunity to break then irrespective of whether we are playing one or two up front then we need to get the midfield forward more quickly to support them.

See how someone with an informed, impartial view can be so positive about our club. I hope the players read that instead of the dour ramblings on here - by people who think they are footballing experts.
