Money is tight. Which players would you like to see reinvent themselves and retrain in a different position?
Oscar as a ball playing CB. Paterson as an energetic box to box midfielder. Ward as a marauding wing back.

Ward as a marauding wing back. Often wondered with his height etc if Oscar is worth a look at playing CB Pato's not a bad shout as a box to box player Ward if he can be trained/coached to be more composed/finished would make a decent back up striker. He does the hard part of getting into good positions to score very well and than scuffs it or aims for the corner flag,.

Vaughan as consistently injury free player ? Less likely than Oscar at CB but we can dream

I definitely see our main 3 strikers this season being Wells, Vaughan and Ward. We'll likely stick with 3-5-2 for the most part, with Dixon taking the LWB role, so there's not really an out-and-out winger position for Ward. I think he's better up front anyway.

Vaughan as consistently injury free player ? Less likely than Oscar at CB but we can dream Vaughan should talk to Steve Gerrard. He was a crock in his early days, now he is older and knows how to manage his body its better than its ever been. Im sure Steve could pass on some advise, probably trains less intensely, has more physio etc. Im sure Ant G could arrange it.

Think Gobern could play sweeper in a back 3 but wouldn't fancy him in a back 4.

Gobern would make a terrible centre back, far too casual/weak/disinterested to play there (or indeed, anywhere).

Tom Smith or Peltier doing the job we expected Hogg to do.
Scannell or Ward doing the job we expect Holmes to do.
Vaughan doing the job we expect Ward to do.

Yeah, lets make last seasons 2nd top scorer the kit man... Good one mate If you think Danny Ward is good enough for our first XI, you're either one of his best mates or you didn't go to any games last season. Should not be a Town player.

I think you're confusing Town with Real Madrid again.

If he did try and manage his body, possibly avoid playing meaningless friendlies if he felt a bit of stiffness in his calf for example, he'd only get someone on here claiming that it proved he had no commitment to the club and was a waste of his massive wages.

Where have I stated an opinion that Danny Ward is good enough for our first XI? He is good enough for a place in our squad in my opinion. An opinion clearly shared by the powers that be at HTAFC by the fact that we offered him a 1 year contract extension.

Oh yeah, the player who scored 3 in his last competitive match.... I really hope some of the Ward haters on here eat their hats this season. He scored more than Jermaine "a lot of DATM think of as God" Beckford last season FFS! He certainly looks trimmer in the pre-season photos.

Good to see Gobern getting ridiculous amounts of unnecessary stick again SOME OF US LOVE YOU, OSCAR!!! He's a quality footballer, a lot of what we did well early last season was due to the time and space he creates on the ball receiving it as the deep midfielder, drawing a couple of players in, and laying it off for the space to be exploited. Then for some reason we dropped Clayton into that role, whose possession and distribution is a lot more steady and considered (and readable to a defence), and who is not as able to to create that space and time on the ball as effectively as Gobern, a couple of times being caught in possession to disastrous consequence. Anyone who saw Gobern at Leeds knows he has the heart for a fight, he carried us through that game until he took a blow to the neck, and then we conceded a load of goals when he stopped playing.
