Are the players restricted by the coaching on what they can and can not do on the field of play, Are they told to play one way and that is it and therefore limited to how far they can express themselves, I appreciate the players require coaching, However i do sometimes sit watching games and look at players on the edge of the box like scanz, hogg, clays etc who are more than capable of scoring from where they are and go for another pass, Like we are trying to walk the ball in the net, Instead of believing in there own ability and just going fot it, Arfield is a good example played with us, No real end product, Goes to Burnley allowed yo play with freedon and obviously been told he can shoot on site and plays a massive part in them getting promotion, I think we are missing the type of free playing free scoring football we did under Bruce and LC First season at the Club, Maybe the squad we have now is more than good enough but maybe they are over coached and should be allowed to just play football.

Hogg has scored 2 goals in 148 appearances..... I dont think you can say we are coaching scoring out of him... In fact one of his goals came for town last year. We are trying to make a huge change to the way we play, with the majority of graysons signings who were bought to play a different style. It will take at least 3 years to see the real fruit of this change. Will deano have the patience, will the fans have the patience and will the club eventually find players in the championship of playing an attractive passing game???

So you mean Burnley got promoted without a system? As far as I recall Arfield used to shoot on site for us as well...not quite sure what at though.

I think we will master the passing game in about two years just as it becomes unfashionable - passé.

What was the style that the players brought in by Grayson were supposed to deliver? Pretty sure it was supposed to be attractive, passing, attacking football, just like what Lee Clarks team before that was supposed to be aiming for. All managers say the same, when did you ever hear someone say theyre going to develop an unattractive, boring, hopeful long ball game??! I'd prefer if a manager adapted a style of winning football to be honest.

passing is great, passing and moving for the return is even better. unfortunately if the ball and the team don't move forward its dull, easy to combat and leads to losing the ball in stupid areas of the pitch.
the only hopeful long ball is one that isn't chased or isn't into space to turn the opposition. Wells has a good turn of pace and Vaughan can run a bit, if we don't move the ball quickly forward on the deck and play balls behind full backs or down the sides of centre halves then long balls are plan b.
going to be about chasing and working hard this year, if we get that important part of the game right then we do have the players who can win games. sitting deep and keeping possession or backing off and defending the penalty box will end up getting the same results as most of last season.
