I heard that the scum bags down the road offered £400,000 but were not willing to meet Liverpool's valuation of him. But that might be a load of bollox as £375,000 has been mentioned a few times. We might not find out until we get Dean drunk. Coady quote from his interview “Huddersfield Town is a fantastic club that has produced some great players. There’s real stability here thanks to some very good people. The Club has a track record of developing players, so when I heard about the Club’s interest there was only one place I wanted to come.” Nuff said

Quality replacement for Clayton. However, our biggest weaknesses in midfield last season were that it lacked defensive capability (addressed by signing Coady to compete with Hogg), it lacked the link between midfield and attack (we've brought in Majewski, Holmes could step up and Lolley looks made for a false 10 role). Also lacked leadership, but I question whether Butterfield brings much of that. We haven't consistently got the best out of Norwood, but I wonder how much of that was due to him being most effective in the Clayton role. Then there's the pathways. Look at our most promising youth players and a lot of them play a central midfield role. Mixed feelings on this turn to concern about spending valuable resources on midfield, at the expense of defence and attack. Agree 100%, do not see why we need Butterfield. Surely the priority is a striker and CB. I wouldn't have thought we could add much more to the current wage bill either Maybe after some of the over reactions on here this week we should just trust in the club and see where we are at come the end of the window. Taking Clayton out of the equation we could still realistically lose goburn, patto, scanz, stead or even hammil in the next few weeks which would surely leave enough in the wage budget for a couple of additions UTT

We might not find out until we get Dean drunk. There's a twitter account called Anfield Oracle who reckoned it was Rodgers that persuaded him to talk to us. Canalside and youth set up was mentioned in his tweet which is pretty good. Our setup seems to be quite highly regarded by a fair few prem managers that I've read and heard mentioned before now.

So officially butterfield and Clayton are both town players ( even if it is only for a hour or 2 !) Bet boros version of the Devon terrier is going into meltdown mode right now ! Am I missing something here? Where has it been announced?? It isn't official yet is it? I'm trusting Bolton and assuming boro have asked nicely for us to hang on till they can paint clayts beard red for their unveiling......after Dean and Co having boro s pants down all week then it's least we can do for our smoggy pals

We signed Butterfield and will now sell Clayts to Brighton. LMAO. That would really piss off our Boro friends.

ill believe it when i see it Me too. Nixon saying if the deal is complete it was not done by mid-day. Assuming that is correct does that mean there would have to be a short term loan for him to be available tomorrow?

What type of midfielder is Butterfield? Can play any position across the midfield. Good technical ability, good passer, hardworking, another influential player/leader. The weak areas of his game are his physical strength and size, not the best header of a ball, or general finisher, but has great feet for long distance efforts and scores the odd worldie.

Looks like Boro have been forced to agree to Butterfield's pay-off terms to get Clayton. It's looking like a fantastic piece of business for us - Coady + Butterfield + money in the bank in replacement for Clayton.
