I'm all for this new media bullshittery spilling over on to the press conference boarding. Gives me more material to work with for the reports rather than just sitting the players in front of the Canalside logo and blocking off the 'C' for childish amusement.

not neccesarily, but using ANY EXCUSE to have a go and 'back up' your own apathy towards anything and everything the club do makes you a narrow minded cock. I have never once read a post from you which states anything like, 'maybe I do disagree with a lot of what the club does, but they did well/ok here', you again and again and again take every opportunity to slag off everything the club does as does Arterrier, who I am unsurprised to see posting on one of the first negative threads in a couple of days, that is what makes you a small minded cock. typical little men the pair of you not happy unless you are belittling something, support the club in your own way by all means but don't start complaining that everyone else has a go at you when they disagree with your constant contempt for the club. Oh is that how this thing works, it's only acceptable to post something negative about the club (or anything) unless countering it with areas where you think the club has done well? Surely by not posting all my apathy and any excuse to have a go at everything about the club means that I don't have a problem with it? Also massively confused as I don't really post much at all to do with the club. I posted the other day saying I didn't agree with the club on the way they've kept silent on the Vaughan situation back end of season or this season and the Clayton saga, but other than that think the rest of the summer was spent promoting football violence along with a few others if you go by what superlopez says, or in fact just calling out superlopez on all the made up shite he posts. Oh yeah at the beginning of the off season I suggested we set up a crowd funder to raise money for flags to decorate the stadium, but that doesn't fit with me insulting the club at every opportunity so we'll disregard that one. Back on topic, I'll throw a curveball (that will probably result in me being called all names under the sun or that I actually pray for thunderstorms to prevent the YAA attending accidents because I disagree with our moniker hence hate all the work the club has done by association): If Leeds had branded themselves The Yorkshire Club, it is my view that this place would be in utter meltdown of knicker creaming bordering on pitchforks at their unrelenting misguided arrogance that pissed in the face of every other football club in Yorkshire, and we'd have all the grammar police out raging saying they are merely a Yorkshire club, not the. The mercury in the offence-o-meter would be spontaneously combusting.

Not keen. Would prefer: A Yorkshire Club. You may think differently if you were trying to sell the club commercially/corporately, in relatively chastened times.

not a disregard Smithfield and I will admit when I am wrong I missed that one and I apologise think we will disagree with regards the Yorkshire club because I read it my way and you read it yours, I shouldn't have called you a cock or smallminded, I was generalising as arterrier posted in agreement and his negativity grates on me big time, you felt the brunt of it and it was unfair of me to do that

Shouldn't this be part of it? If it is 'upsetting' some our our 'friends' from up the A62, this is not a bad thing. Because at the end of the day it does not matter - it is only marketing speak, in theory for the betterment of HTAFC commercially.

It is corny I will admit but its a show of pride and at worst its a bit of banter with other Yorkshire clubs, which adds some spice to our games and a bit of interest also. Its a talking point and gets Town some publicity, so in all I cannot see why its an issue. more positive than negative if you ask me.

Because at the end of the day it does not matter - it is only marketing speak, in theory for the betterment of HTAFC commercially. I'd rather let our football do the upsetting of our neighbours, not some cheap gimmick that gets up the noses of every other club based in Yorkshire at our sheer audacity to claim ourselves as The Yorkshire Club. If we're all for promoting businesses in the region and strengthening links, do the other football clubs not count as businesses? I understand it is only marketing speak, but it has propagated into nearly every aspect of what the club says or puts out, it is emblazoned as big as out club's name wherever possible, as if as equally important. Businesses interested in sponsorship/ties offer marketing packs, where all this spiel is usually kept to, aimed directly at businesses with all the relevant buzz words and narrative that make your entity a more attractive proposition than the next. I'd say that the way the club have positioned this slogan on nearly everything we see put out by them that it more than just marketing talk. My opinion of course.

it is probably designed to get a response and I honestly fail to see how this is a bad thing,
one. It winds up leeds/sheffield fans so more turn up to watch at our place to wipe our noses in it - generates more matchday revenue. two. pushes other clubs in county to take a more community based look at their own marketing - good for other local business in the county three. attracts local business to us as we have a proven track record in promoting them and our affront to other clubs causes number one.
Its a circle of benefit for the club, for the community. If Leeds had thought of it first they would've used it, Plus its an aspiration its where we want to be we want to be the first choice for suppporters and were making it perfectly clear that were confident in getting there.

I must say, I agree, I find all this marketing stuff and branding cringing too. Why can't we just be a football club? Not sure what this 'Yorkshire club' slogan represents or what it means. There are a shed load of other clubs in Yorkshire, are they not 'Yorkshire clubs'? There are a shed load of other clubs in Yorkshire, but they aren't important.

Okay so we make a signing which by all accounts is something of a coup, so it stops the moaning about transfers for a few hours. So there are two options, do you:
a) think "brilliant, cracking new signing, really encouraging performance the other day, season starts tomorrow, AND the NSL swings into action - can't wait! b) think "crap, there's not enough negativity here today, best try and dredge something up to fill that void"

to be fair, you don't say THE Yorkshireman I'm going to start doing that, because I'm the only Yorkshireman at my workplace. Well, that's not strictly true, there's another one but he supports Leeds. wish I could. I actually think it could be quite funny however the three other yorkshiremen who unfortunately 2 of which are my bosses wouldn't appreciate it... although we could get together and be The Yorkshire Men.... and that would be accurate... and could potentially irritate the Lancashire man and the scotch man...

Do you really believe it was a lack of imagination that prevented any other Yorkshire club to brand themselves as the Yorkshire club in the 156 association football has been played in Yorkshire? I'm of the opinion it was more a touch of restraint or humility, or realism for that matter. Because to do so would have been misguided and unless you were Town in the 20's or perhaps Leeds in their era, unsubstantiated. It seems a bit of an affront to other clubs in the region. If that's what we're after, great...but I think most of their fans who've seen it and commented just see through it as the tin pot bit of marketing it is. Like forcing a bit of relevance.

Kind of agree- its a bit cringeworthy. Seems arrogant and deluded to me. Thats what we'd all think if any of the other clubs in the county had labelled themselves as that.
Think ' YORKSHIRE AND PROUD' does the same job marketing wise , without the cringe of pretending we're the only club of note in the county.

It's a bit crap to me too. All the other clubs could say the same as they're in Yorkshire too. Still it's better than saying we're the Kirklees club Don't understand what it actually means though, do the club really think that we are the main club that represents Yorkshire?
