So 4 CB's that are all capable first team performers isn't enough? Also we have more than enough strikers, just not the right ones, If Vaughan's fitness could be guaranteed for three quarters of a season then It could even be argued that a striker isn't really needed, given the successful emergence of Bunn. I think you just want us to sign players for the sake of it. 4 centre backs capable of first team performances? Go on..... Gerrard yes, but injured (0), Lynch (1)....Wallace isn't and shouldn't be a first choice CB, only cover (0), Smith is a RB (0) and Peltier is pants as a CB (0). Who are the other 3, I only count 1 fit capable CB. As for more than enough strikers, we're talking first choice, 1st team strikers, of who only Wells is reliably fit and capable. Vaughan isn't reliable enough and you're surely not adding Stead to this vast list of reliable first choice strikers are you? Bunn may add to the list if we see a bit more of him, but for now, I wouldn't automatically have him down as a first choice striker. 1. Gerrard is nearly back to full fitness, and last season was one of our most reliable players. 2. Wallace currently is a first choice CB, and according to the vast majority of match-going fans, thoroughly deserves his starting berth. 3. Smith is a CB playing at RB. He is more than capable of performing in both positions, but first and foremost he is a CB. 4. Lynch is hit and miss form wise, but is more than capable at this level, and when he is on form there aren't many better CB's at this level. That's 4 decent CB's which, barring a mega injury crisis, or simultaneous dip in form is actually a strong choice of players. 4 players for 2 (or sometimes 3) positions is enough. The way I see it, we have 4 first team strikers. Wells Bunn Vaughan Stead You are right when you say Vaughan isn't reliable enough, and Stead is at best, OK. Wells still seems to be struggling without a real partner, although I believe Bunn has the potential to be that partner. I'm not even going to factor Paterson into the equation, I doubt he will even play for us again. So yes I do think we need another striker, but purely because we don't seem to have the kind of player who can really compliment Wells.

We also have Wilkinson, Boyle & Wright who are all centre backs in the development squad. Now it may be that none of these are ready for first team duties yet, but we have to hope that at least one of them might be knocking on the first team door before the season's out.

Wilkinson will be Town captain in the next few years I reckon ?

Do you think the 14 goals we've leaked so far this season are due to us having 4 decent CB's? I don't. With Gerrard out, we're in do-do.

Agreed. I think people are conveniently forgetting the amount of goals we have already conceded this season. The centre backs we have aren't good enough, simple as that.
It's not the only department we are lacking though. We are crying out for another striker. If we have any aspirations of avoiding relegation this season then both positions must be addressed and soon.

He'll need to put a blinder in against Millwall then What Dixon slightly lacks defensively he more than makes up for in the outlet he gives us down the left. Robinson gets the ball, turns around and passes it backwards or at best sideways. A decent throw isn't enough to keep you in the side Liverpool saw Harry coming a mile off

The sooner Dixon is reinstated to the team in place of this joker the better.

Robinson and Peltier must be keeping Kleenex in business. They have a nosebleed every time they pass half way. Bring back Dixon.

Peltier is incapable of bombing forward. Robinson looks like he potentially could but either doesn't have the confidence to or is being restricted by Powell. We could get away with one defensive wing back but two stifles us as a team.

In the Championship, he's not good enough on the ball. He doesn't sprint with it, can't dribble, can't cross and can't pass forward. 3-0 down today against 10 men and he didn't even have the minerals to run at their left back.

Agree about his lack of attacking play, but he was the least of our worries today in the back four.
