Ward - end product for his potential is not consistent enough, on ability potentially worth persevering with but is end product suggests it's probably worth his moving on. He could be a world beater for someone else but he's not done it enough for us over time. You can put Scannell in the same bracket, although he seems to do more when Lillis is in charge. Hammill could deliver more but overall he's always trying to do something positive. Lolley looks to have ability to burn, he just needs to get a run of games. Do we need 4 wide men?? Probably not when we only have two out and out strikers at the club - but that's been said before. Based on this season that is a slur on both Bunn and Stead. OK I'll rephrase - proven goalscorers

If it was a case of we had to lose Ward or Scannell then it'd be Ward going for me
Sounds stupid when you compare their stats from last season but I think Scannell has the potential to be class when it all finally clicks. I just can't see Ward getting any better than he is

possibly those at the club are in agreement that wardy got a lot of game time last season whilst scannel didn't and wardy didn't do enough with it??
give scannel a decent run and see if he can, they are both too expensive to be sitting on the bench, one has to go???
plus nobody has made a good enough offer for scannel???
just a few thoughts..

A million is a lot but on the other hand hes just about the only player we have who can score a goal out of nothing. Yes hes inconsistant, yes hes frustrating, but there is also a lot of natural ability there if we can get him to show it. Plus we need forward options coming IN, not going out. not sure on this one. Problem is captain he had 4 chances to score at QPR last season out of something and blazed wide and over.We could have been 5-0 up at HT!

What a load of rubbish, if anyone pays a mill for him again they will want their head testing, its just rumour rubbish like the Ipswich interest was. I would let him go on a free to give the wages to someone who will be able to actually have more than 2 or 3 decent games a season

No Deal. Who are we going to turn to when Vaughan gets his biannual long term injury? Wells and Bunn certainly don't offer a plan B. Wells is our Plan A! And Bunn has been a great Plan B so far. They're both relatively small. At least Ward can provide us with an aerial threat for when we are struggling to play on the deck.

I thought Bunn was pretty good in the air at Reading. Times his jump much better than Ward and won quite a lot of ball in the air. Better to keep it on the deck though!

Get him off the wage bill. 5 good games a season on probably 5-10 grand a week. Overweight and gets bullied off the ball. League 1 player at best

Ward is a winger for me, not a striker.
We paid £1m for him so he will no doubt be on a good wage too.
We seem far more set up for a diamond midfield now (albeit without a manager!) in which case we don't need out and out wingers. As stated we have Scannell, Lolley and Hammill who can all play out wide.
He could have left for nothing in the summer so we realy have nothing to lose. Any fee would be a bonus and free up a wage for a possible striker/centre back - which we need far more than an inconsistent winger IMHO.

I can see a thread full of DATM cliches ahead, some regarding bus fares and volunteer drivers. The scene down Leeds Road when the news broke

we paid too much and we have paid too much in wages ever since. put into perspective a few years down the line we paid a wee bit more for Wells, be honest we did have a period where we paid too much for everyone.. im not a Ward disliker(hater is a daft word).. there is a player in there but like a lot of footballers it just isn't there for us.. he may do fine, more often elsewhere. I don't think its a warchest, more like a bigger than usual petty cash tin which leads me to believe that loans will be(and probably was always) the plan after having to replace clayton/norwood. having looked at coady/butterfield I have a good deal more confidence in 'whoever' is running the ins and outs now..

One thing that can't be disputed is that we have too many wingers/wide attacking players. Hammill, Scannel, Lolley, majewski, Ward.
If Ward is considered for a striking role then he is behind Vaughan, wells, competing with stead, bunn, Paterson.
I think if decent offers came in for most of those names town would have to consider it & they'd be sold. Probs only Wells & Lolley would be 100% safe.

Sorry, this is Danny Ward who scored 10 goals last season as well as several assists and top the assist charts the season before.
Sean Scannell two assists in two seasons.
I know who I'd rather keep!

Maybe he will go on Monday. DH said back in June that signing his contract extension just meant we could get a fee for him when he left. He said at that point he was unsure if Ward would be at the club at the start of the season. Wolves to return with an actual bid?
