Just watched the highlights from Watford and seen him a few times this season...for me, just my opinion, but he is not good enough and could do with dropping. Weak in the air and doesn't give back four much confidence.
Drop him for Murphy and see what happens. As much as he has saved us a few times his decision making is sometimes bloody terrible and you can't deny the facts when you look at the number of goals conceded...can't be all the defenders fault can it?

Smithies generally has been poor for quite sometime. His command of area is poor too time for Murphy to have a run of games although I fear we will continue to ship goals without new central defenders.

You're welcome but I'm joining the negative moaners for a while as it's much easier than trying to support on here. So the fact we have shipped a dozen or so goals in a few games is something to be positive about? Get a grip and take off your rose tinted spectacles. It's a valid point as far as I can see or are you happy with our tremendous start to the season? Facts are facts...we have a crap defence and no manager with one day until the transfer deadline. It's not exactly brilliant by the board is it? I think Dean hoyle has been brilliant for town but if you are telling me as a fan I can't question some of the recent decisions you are wrong. It's a total shambles.

we have a manager, albeit a caretaker one...one many on here would have permanent
the board are a shambles I agree, two young Liverpool,u21s signed ,how dare they.
our recent results have no way been caused by not fielding our strongest or even settled team.
we cant get loans either next week, before our next match........oh wait we need permanent million pound signings.
aye proper shambles.

Smithies has been poor since Ipswich at home.
What was worrying for me yesterday, for their offside goal, the shot was not that well hit and seemed to go under his arm. IMHO he should be saving those, offside or not.
His distribution, once his main asset, seems to have deteriorated aswell.
Maybe its time for Murphy to have a go.

Seems Murphy was signed as a sicknote or low key game replacement for Smithies and will play a similar role to that of Bennett

He's unhinged - but he did fine yesterday and his distribution for once was excellent. Can't imagine what the op saw from any of the highlights that Smithies contributed to any of their goals.

Perfectly correct, however Smithies shouldn't be taking the blame for yesterday, his distribution and general play was fine.

Agreed, yesterdays performance was not my point, hence I didn't mention it. Personally I like Smithies, I think he is a good keeper and am pleased he's our lad, but he is not as good as some on your would have you believe.

honestly have no idea what part of the highlights reflect badly on smithies!?! unless you think he should be playing centre half.
by the sounds of it there was only one dodgy keeper on show yesterday and he has made nearly 100 apps for spurs.

I personally never think he has grown into the roles well enough doesn't command area well enough which puts defence in doubt which is bad enough Then I dont see him organising the defence well enough

Murphy let 3 in at Chesterfield and 2 V Forest - defending is a team game not just the keeper.

Big part of a keepers game is to Marshall the defence, one of a few things he's crap at.
