Was thinking about players who impressed and then their careers went nowhere. Two stuck out immediately (although playing for Town is clearly a professionals curse). Ben Thornley and Tim Hotte. Who did you think was going to be special who disappeared?

Blobby Williams started like shit off a shovel on his debut, turned into one of my most despised players.

The latter being a genuine one minute wonder

I felt genuine pathos reading Pawel Abbot's wiki entry, particularly this line:
On 30 July 2010, Abbott signed for Charlton Athletic for a fee of £20,000. Abbott netted twice against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup to register his first goals for the club.[10] He went on to score against MK Dons in the Football League Trophy[11] and Swindon in the league,[12] ending his season tally on 4 goals.

Lol! Can recall a Bury poster waxing lyrical about what a diamond we had signed and him doing quite well against the Fax in a pre-season.

Tamas Kadar. Left back from Newcastle. Thought he was good. Played 1 match on loan for us, got injured, never heard of him since.

Efe Sodje.
He looked utterly dominant against Derby, but very quickly became a liability and is now (I believe) the most sent off player in league history (19)

Fowler was the first name that popped into my head. In reverse was Bobby Davison who had a decent career after playing a first half at Rotherham (thought he played ok if memory serves) and never saw him again!!

Jon Newby Lol! Can recall a Bury poster waxing lyrical about what a diamond we had signed and him doing quite well against the Fax in a pre-season. Newby had a brilliant pre-season, I'm sure he scored in every game he featured. I remember reading the Examiner pre-season pull out and Newby stated if he got 10 goals he'd be happy. I did begin to wonder after that and so it proved that he was abit rubbish.

Gudjohnnson, played great first match of season away at Notts County but couldn't do it regularly. Though you could argue that he'd already had the best of his career before he came to Town so it was always going to be a downward spiral.

Peter Ndlove our however you spell it. Think its a bit harsh to include him in this category. Phil Quinlan is deffo a 'wasted talent' type. Vince Chapman or was he just crap?
