Been in Liverpool this weekend and heard from some Liverpudlians that they are sending their highly rated centre back to us.
Lloyd Jones...

If we carry on like this we'll have to do a rendition of You'll never walk alone just so they all feel at home!

Would be happy to get someone in, and he sounds to have real pedigree, but surely we need a leader and organiser back there? He could be just that but it's hard to envisage given he's a young lad with little experience.

So maybe getting a real prospect in there is the only option?

Is this guy going to come in and start ordering the seasoned pros about and dishing out a few bollockings? Cos that's what we need back there.

Don't know much about st ledger but I'm very surprised we haven't offered him a deal, seems a strange situation that.

He's very highly thought of at liverpool.
Agree ideally we could do with a leader..but peltier and gerrard, although not 'captain like' players, are experienced
peltier jones gerrard robinson
looks quite tenacious that to be fair. and if we cant defend at least we might confuse the opposition with 4 scousers squealing at the opposition.

Gary Caldwell doesnt appear to be getting a look in at Wigan. 32 and captained both them and Celtic...worth a phone call too?

Either pacey and inexperienced or a more experienced slower organiser...you could argue a case for us needing both

Possible realistic centre back targets? Michael Morrison Ben Turner Michael Keane Clint Hill Harry Maguire (loan)
Whether loan or permanent, these players seem to have moved down the pecking order at their current clubs.

ward is ok.. that's about it for me.
He often has a good half then disappears for the second, much like a number of Town 'wide players'..
He is neither vital to our squad nor obviously expendable.
This is indicative of our squad for sometime. We shift players that have had decent seasons in a poor overall season for the team and then realise we haven't missed them too much..
Of the players mentioned regularly on their way out of the club, none would break my heart if they left. Wells wont go in this window , nobody will come up with enough cash. The rest can go for me because I am confident in Dean using the money to replace them, be it today, next week in the loan market or even January. If we are not good enough with these players in the squad then holding onto them if we can bring in fresh blood seems a wee bit daft. Keeping the same squad merely to keep up the numbers is chucking good money after bad..

No major issue in us moving both Ward and Scannell on. On current form Scannell is doing well, but he's not been consistent. In a straight choice I'd keep Scanz over Ward though.
Moving out the majority of a midfield that has seen us struggle for two years isn't a bad thing necessarily. So far Coady/Butterfield/Majewski are looking an improvement on Clayton/Norwood/Hogg.
Sort the defence and we will do well.
