Anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence can see the tremendous ability of Scannell. He needs handling properly. To sell him to a rival sitting at the top end of the table would be the height of madness. At least if he's on a contract, it means he couldn't go for nothing and the £200,000 which has been offered seems a snip for a player of his quality - allowing him to leave would show the stupidity of the Board.

I don't see it. Think he shows moments of great quality but on the whole appears to seriously lack a footballing brain.
Admittedly, he has had a couple of good games, but based on his whole time here I'd be happy to see him go.

Whoever brings the most money goes for me.. We don't need both as they tend to block Lolley's opportunities.

Scannell, 3 goals in 76 appearances, Wardy 3 goals in 45 minutes!

If we'd signed Scannell up this close season and judged him on the games so far (not under Robins) there'd be as much waxing lyrical about him as the other new recruits, which shows to me Robins couldn't manage him properly or he was demotivated (probably as being kept on the peripheral whilst players putting average performances in week in week out were still automatic starters, then given 20 mins here or there to prove his worth).
Scannell is an asset to the team at the moment, and I'm of the opinion it's because he's being managed right and we're now getting what he can actually do. The more it goes on the more it seems to me Robins was piss-poor at man management/motivation. I could be wrong of course but there just seems more togetherness at the moment, even after defeat the players coming out and saying positive things.

Question: If it came to seeling one today... Ward or Scannell? Scannell. Ward has impressed me far more over the past 2 years, without ever being that great himself. Which says a lot about how poor scannell has been.

Like I said yesterday "Scannell makes limited use of his limited ability" I'll drive him to Millwall

We would be crazy to let Scannell go. Agreed with all the sales in the past few years, but not this one if he goes.
He is the type of player a lower end championship club like ourselves needs to hang on to as it costs you more to bring somebody else in and most of the time it does not work.
I think we are now seeing the benefit of SS and this is is due to Mark Lillis's man management of him. The criticism of him in the past has been he is lazy...ML would certainly not entertain anybody who is lazy.
He is cheap, great upper body strength and offers you something totally different that the others have not got. His goals at Leicester & Wolves would have had the experts orgasmic if Gareth Bale would have bagged them.
Ward can go for me, all day long.

Doesn't matter if he has got ability if he hardly ever shows it, which has been the case whilst he's been here. There are options in his position so we need to get whatever we can for him & use the proceeds to strengthen the defence.

Danny Ward was involved in a third of all of our goals last season, yet some would let him go ahead of Scannell.
Deary me.

I believe Scannell is in his final year of his contract? Maybe he has said he would be unwilling to extend his stay up North, so Town are trying to get some sort of fee for him?

If Holloway gets Scannell for around £200,000 he will have pulled off the bargain of the day. We must be mad if we allow him to leave for a pittance. I would also keep Ward, both have tremendous ability and need to be managed properly. Remember when Robins brought Sinnott on against Charlton in the Cup instead of Scannell - I believe that mistake could have cost us the match. It was one of the worst decisions I've seen from Town manager. Robins man management must have been lousy, something the Board hadn't taken into account when they appointed him.

If we let these two go, then the squad gets even thinner, ok if two direct replacements are lined up for these two guys then fair enough, they can leave but given the fans are clammering for some centre backs and a new striker, then I doubt we will have some replacements lined up. Lolley appears to be another sick note. I'm also quite surprised that there is so much transfer activity happening at the club without us having a permanent manager in place.

You were obviously Lee Clark's chief scout in a former life - his recruitment policy was also based on a player having 2 good games in 3 years.

If Holloway gets Scannell for around £200,000 he will have pulled off the bargain of the day. If he maintains the form hes had here, that'll work out at £100k per assist over the next couple of years + all the wages ( add another £6-700k per assist for that ). If that becomes the bargain of the day then there'll be a hell of a lot of atrocious signings going on today!
