We have a terrifically balanced bowling attack. Seem, pace, swing, accuracy, bounce and a quality spinner. I think it's one of the most balanced squads Yorkshire have put together in years in al honesty. Plunkett is the man that we've missed for the last few years. His pace and accuracy has made our attack a bit more lethal. At the start of the season I thought we were a bit soft in the bowling but we've been brilliant especially in the opening bowling department. Yorkshires batting is the best county batting line up when al the england boys are back. Lyth needs to replace Robson ASAP. Oh and that Lees is going to be something else.

It doesn't really get much better than this I still think there's a long way to go to getting the win, a lot will rely on Rashid, Lyth and possibly even Root picking up some wickets because if we do make them follow on if we get the opportunity it will be a tough slog for the quicks with possibly another 2 days in the field. I'm sure Colville & co on Sky will have been bemoaning the slow run rate this afternoon but fk em we were doing what was best for Yorkshire not them. Bat once, bat long then back yourselves to bowl the other team out twice is how we've got in this position.

I was gonna post earlier that I think we have a good chance of retaining the title next year. I doubt Robson will be selected again any time soon. Howpfully Lyth will get his chance. Lees could be Cooks long term replacement. We could realistically have England's top four for the next decade.

Lees has a way to go no doubt but his talent is unreal. Lyth should of been selected from the start of the test summer if they weren't going to pick Carberry. I suspect Robson has made the test side mainly because Angus Fraser is one of the selectors. It will be hard for us to retain the title with the amount of international cricket we have next summer.

The fact that we are absolutely taking apart the second in the table, with bat and ball, says everything.
I genuinely think that this team would give the current England first 11 a game. Good captaining experience for young Joe too...

What a twat that Colville, who the fuck is he anyway? Nick Knight is a prick as well, in fact, apart from Bumble, the whole commentary team is pretty dire.

Agree it will be hard to defend the title - if we win it - but in the last ten months Bairstow, Ballance, Bresnan, Root and Plunkett have all played test cricket for England. Lyth will surely get a Test cap soon too, with Rashid and Lees not too far off. We could be without 4/5 players at times The exciting thing is the next batch, Leaning looks decent (only 20 ex Eng U19) and the current England U19 team finished third in the World Cup earlier this year and the side contains 5 Yorkshire lads, the captain, the vice captain and a 16 year old playing up the age groups www.ecb.co.uk/information/england-under-19s-squad-south-africa-odis . And that doesn't include Gibson who made his first team debut aged 14 In five years - Rashid and Lyth will be 31, Root, Ballance, Bairstow will still be in their 20's, Lees and Leaning mid twenties and if some of the teenagers kick on then Yorkshire could be even better

The trouble with England at the minute is that there ethos is to dry up runs in the field to create pressure and bat without risk to keep your wicket and Rashid goes for runs with the ball even though he takes wickets and he bats with the intent to score quick. Plunkett took wickets but got dropped for no reason, all I can think of is he's too attacking. Nearly all of Yorkshires young regulars should play for England eventually but the mindset the england management now is to be conservative and believing that we will be number 1 in the world again by playing that style. If any of these Yorkshire lads were South African or Australian they'd either be picked for their respected countries or not be picked because there is better players ahead. Not because they are positive attacking cricketers. Yorkshire have played positive attacking cricket this year, Our Yorkshire lads will be turned into nudges and nurdlers within 6 months of them in the England side. Look at Root In Australlia... C'mon the Yorkie boys!!

There was certainly a 'grind them into the dust' from Tim Bresnan yesterday, but hopefully they don't go too Australian. Got to enforce it, surely?

Not much point batting for an hour or so when we'll have an enormous lead anyway, why take the hour out of the game and potentially only draw the match rather than going for it and win the match?

With a lead of around 200 a follow on argument could be made. Not at around 350.

The bowlers are fit enough and the knowledge that we can have the championship if we can bowl them out in 4 sessions is enough to spur them on. 9 to go.
