It would be nice for all the team to say screw you to the ECB and to make themselves unavailable for England in future cos they need us more than we need them. If the sweaties vote for independence next week we should be next

Feel really sorry for Gale, the pettiness shown is ridiculous. Cricketers sacrifice so much to play the game professionally, spend pretty much the whole of winter away playing overseas and summer’s travelling up and down the country playing away for a week at a time. County players don’t especially get paid well so it’s not for the money and it must be hard being away from families a lot of the time, especially for someone like Gale who has a young family. They do it in part for moments like this – winning a trophy for your home county after years of graft and sacrifice
The ECB should remember that it’s a spectator sport and this pettiness is not what the public wanted to see (we all wanted to see Gale lift the trophy). It’s also not what the players wanted (see the Tweets of the Notts players) and clearly it’s not what Yorkshire team wanted.
What a set of heartless amateurs the ECB have made themselves look!
Well done Andrew Gale and the rest of the Yorkshire boys. Brilliant achievement and hopefully next year there’ll be more opportunities for Gale to lift a few more trophies

It's been a great season for Yorkshre under Jason Gillespie's coaching and Andrew Gale's captaincy - ECB ' old farts'! Town need to gain 6 points from next two home games to put smile back his, and the old guy who sits 2 rows in front of me in the Direct Golf, face.

The team should simply have refused to pick up the trophy without Gale.
That way, the ECB are left with egg on their faces - a presentation ceremony without the victorious team!
Given that it was on the telly, you could also guarantee that their paymasters at Sky would have gone absolutely berserk with them as well.

The ECB have been a laughing stock for 2 years now. This doesn't suprise me, and neither does Ajmal finally being investigated for an illegal action.

Sat next to the Sideeeebottoms against Notts County about 3 year's ago. Ryan was supporting Town and Arnie Notts County. Wonder if Ryan is a true Town fan?

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard of that vindictive ECB decision. I am very disappointed that the players didn't have the courage to act like Yorkshiremen and do exactly that.

Unless someone at the ECB was there in the doorway to physically stop Gale going onto the pitch to collect the trophy, I don't see what they could've done to stop him, he should've just taken the trophy from whoever it was that gave them the trophy (if it was someone from the ECB) and gone and celebrated with the team. Someone being banned from a match (or sent off during a match if it's something like football) shouldn't mean they're not allowed to lift a trophy, celebrate with their teammates, be in any official photos etc. The rule is a complete crock of shit and they should've stuck 2 fingers up at them and done as they pleased including Gale.

Fred Boycott sums it up well:
@ecb_cricket I wouldn't trust you lot to run a bath, let alone English cricket. Pathetic decision re Gale.

Under Giles Clarke live Test Cricket has gone off terrestrial TV (even the football World Cup and FA Cup is still on terrestrial). A totally short sighted decision that while no doubt earns a few more millions from Murdoch will have stunted the sports reach and popularity. There is a real value to getting your "product" readily promoted to millions I grew up watching Test cricket and being inspired to play (era of Gooch, Gatting etc) but unless you have Sky Sports packages now kids won't see that. We've had a successful spell in the Ashes (until the Winter) but if it wasn't for T20 inception a lot of clubs would be struggling with low attendances. So I always thought Clarke was useless - and this confirms it for me As for the Yorkshire players if they'd snubbed the presentation they'd have been fined so makes no sense. The better response would be to collect the trophy in a understated manner (fulfilling their contract obligations but killing the photo opportunity for the sponsors who would be upset at the ECB) and then going to car park to having a proper celebration with Gale, the trophy and the fans

Note on Sky Sports.
7 million watched in 2005, 2013 less than a million and only 400,000 v India. IPL was the only cricket on free to air until this year but is now moving to sky.
It's no wonder that less playing cricket beacause they can't watch it. In 05 and 09 i saw plenty of kids come up and try cricket after the ashes success but not in 13...

They have also officially charged him now with racism !!!! Can we charge the ECB with being c**** ? Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

The ECB are a farce.
Should this be upheld my support of the England side will be diminished due to it.
Whoever is running the show (Downton, Clarke etc) need to go.

They truly are inept I hope Gale fights this, if it is proven that this is not racism (which I can't see how it could be as Kolpack isn't a race or ethnic group, is it recognised by the UN as an ethnic group etc? - it's like calling locum doctors a "race"!), then when he retires speaks to a lawyer to see if there's grounds to pursue a slander / deformation of character civil case against the ECB If he's cleared will the ECB issue a public apology? I doubt it but you can't imply someone is a racist in the papers unless proven guilty - it's outrageous IMO

According to the YP Prince has done a radio interview in SA where he's denied being racially abused, he was only offended by the way Gale spoke to him. Good luck with the case then ECB, arseholes.

No case to answer then, Kolpak is a loophole exploited to circumvent the overseas restrictions on players (Yorkshire have used it!) - but the ECB will come up with some trumped up charges.
