If as expected Powell signs today does anyone expect Peltier still to be club captain? Personally id make Hudson captain as he seems to have been skipper wherever hes been.

Could pick Hudson, Peltier, or Coady. Big improvement from last season.

I think Coady would be a good call but now we have Hudson he just seems the natural choice. He has been there and done it and had that responsibility in big games and seasons and thats what we need. If we keep Coady for any length of time he should be the skipper after that, learning from Hudson.
Good position to be in having a leader in defence and in midfield! If we can get an experience guy upfront then maybe we can have composure down the spine of the team.

OK, but ... how would this make Lee Peltier feel? Captain for a month, only played a couple of games because of injury and then stripped of captaincy. Not particularly good man-management.

Peltier's been in football long enough to know that things change very quickly. Also, what's better for the team is more important. From everything that has been said about Hudson & our crying need for leaders, then he absolutely has to be captain.

Not disagreeing with the idea, chaps - just looking at the other side of the coin. FWIW, I'd go with Hudson too and hope we can shift Pelts out - unless we decide to use him at RB.

Hudson does not strike me as the kind that needs to dress up to play the part so there is no reason for Peltier not to keep it.
That said Hudson appears to be the obvious captain.

Peltier's a big boy he'll cope. Besides he way probably given it in a short term basis with it clear that a new manager would have the season long decision. Personally, he wouldn't be a shoe in at right back for me so Hudson is the stand out candidate. Coady is a great prospect but I reckon he has enough on his plate this year establishing himself at a very good championship level.

I very much doubt we'll see peltier at CB again - unless for an injury crisis. Was obvious robins brought peltier in to play RCB in a 3, with his versatility meaning he can switch formation during games and put peltier to RB or CB (if you can call him versatile, given he's not right good at CB). He's a good RB to compete with smith, no idea why we'd want to move him on.

IMO Hudson has to be captain under Powell. Let Coady learn from him over next few seasons and yes....why not a future potential captain. (How good is it that we have got all these options!!) UTT

There's not necessarily a need to strip Peltier of it, Hudson and Coady will still organise whilst they're on the pitch, it's in their nature. Pelts can still sort the Christmas party and Friday breakfast orders

I'd leave it as it is for the reasons mentioned above but happy that we are now in a position to chose between Hudson and Peltier! Wasn't long ago we were having to consider Clayton (who?).

I think Hudson will be a leader on the pitch with or without an armband. I think people make a lot of fuss about the captaincy. Its not like cricket. More an honorary role in my opinion.

A strong captain in a good position either as a centre back or central midfielder can make a huge difference to a team. I agree the token captains, particularly playing as forwards like Rooney, don't make a blind bit of difference.

It's more that leaders on the pitch will always shine through. I think terrier ramone has a point with the British mentality. But with most of our players being British. Maybe it means more to them?
