I know that people won't want to hear this after a rather depressing afternoon's football but here goes anyway.
I was really chuffed to hear about the idea of getting the fans behind the goal to make some noise. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I couldn't make the Bournemouth game. I did go to the Charlton game and sat and sang in the North stand. Today I was back in the singing section and couldn't hear a thing from behind the goal. Unfortunately as previous posters said the acoustics at that end are awful.
I did notice that the singing section has really thinned out since last season and the atmosphere suffered accordingly. Is it time to give up on the North end and bring the banners and fans up to the singing section?

As with the new manager people need to give it a chance. That being said it will be absoloutely dreadful in there in the middle of winter.

It'll be fine when it gets converted to safe standing and a little roof added

As some know I'm an avid fan of the NSL and will defend it till the day I die but we all have to get realistic here. We haven't won a home game in 8. We haven't won at home this season, picking up 1 point with 2 goals in total. We haven't played the best football and have had 3 managers. Give it some time for Christ sake. It's not going to happen over night, if we had won all our home matches this season nobody would be complaining. I know the NSL divides opinion but when you stand in the north stand, I can't hear other home stands sing. Results and performances will help the cause but the start to the season hasn't been the best has it? If you think the NSL will put down it's weapons and a flag after four games your deluded.

To be honest i was in the NSL again today and really enjoyed it, The atmosphere was a bit dull second half until stead scored but rather than saying it seemed a bit thinner than norm i actually thought it's getting better and starting to build some momentum, When you have upto a couple of thousand in the NSL singing against nearly 4k away fans they will obviously sound louder than us, Lets hope more join the NSL to make it louder or other fans in the 2x sides sing a little more.

The NSLs have to be commended for their effort and commitment etc all done with the best intentions.....however,i hate to say this but IMO its just not going to work, even if the stand was full. A full 'singing section' in the Kilner Bank gives a far better atmosphere...imo.

Great scenes for steads goal! The FML went bonkers, thought it was gonna collapse! Other than that v quiet but as pointed out, the stuff on the pitch was hardly arousing!

People who sit in other stands and moan about them should maybe start singing themselves if they are so fussed about "atmosphere". Having said all that I haven't been in and probably wont, the matchday noise hasn't gone up appreciably. And I doubt it will. But criticism is ridiculous

I'm enjoying it in there & everyone else appears to be too.
I don't see why it is even an issue.

Until we create a demand, the south stand is a pipe dream. We need a home end, only way to the south stand as that home end is to fill the north stand and make it our temporary home. It's far from faultless but if results on the pitch where better the NSL wouldn't get a minority of negative voices complaining.

We sit near the NSL group (K.B.) and they appeared to be fine (in noise terms) until that tremendous free kick. However; even though the away end is at least twice as far from us as the Town group, we could hear THEIR support very clearly. This, as mentioned, may be down to acoustics but is more probably the result of away fan syndrome and the number in that stand....
Also the NSL crowd seemed to loose enthusiasm (even though nearer to us we couldn't hear any real SUPPORT from that quarter) for long periods. Great experiment - if the guys and gals in there are enjoying themselves - but I can't see how they are contributing to the efforts of the team on the field. And; as I recall, when we had the reverse experiment a couple of seasons ago (presumably the same fans) with our lot in the South Stand, there was never a big enough number of fans to fill that area and make the sort of contribution that the Boro' fans made today....
Not sure what these folk are trying to do - if it's just a way of being allowed to stand or a cheaper option that the rest of us plebs pay then fine... But, to generate a "Stoke like" atmosphere in the ground is going to require some highly original and out of the box thinking.

Best atmosphere this season was when we had something to shout about with the performance.
I was in the NSL, it was a morgue after their first goal but so was the entire stadium.
Performance is key, always has been.

Very disappointed with it today, gonna stick with my kilner seat for a bit. Wouldn't say its ruining the atmosphere tho and still think its a good idea.
Thought Boro fans were one of the best we've had here for a long time. Good numbers and noise. Deffo out sung today. We always out sing home teams when we're away tho tbf. Fair play to them tho

its as if the Nsl is taking the flak for the shite served up by the team on pitch I started the thread and didn't mean to belittle those people who have joined in the experiment, it just isn't working. The effect has been to thin out the kilner bank singing section to the point where it's now barely a singing section. Those people who go in the north stand are great. The banners are brill and you were jumping around and looked like you were singing but I couldn't hear a peep.

As long as the peoplewho sit in the NSL enjoy themselves who cares?!
It's like people want it to fail. Pathetic tbh.

Maybe you could start a thread asking them why they don't want to join in the experiment?
