Weve not conceded a goal in open play for nearly two games.
Peltier being there is a big part of that.

It's no surprise we playing terribly. He's got Peltier and Coady in midfield doing the same job covering the same ground. On the flanks, we then have the conservative Smith and Robinson offering no movement or adventure. Very static.

Why? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Because he's poor in CM and not the best RB in the squad. So far, he's been a terrible signing and a poor captain.

Peltier was one of our better players tonight I thought. Still quite a few misplaced passes but there were plenty worse than him
Stead and Wells being two of them but Wells was being played out of position

If you'd have had him in next to clayton we'd have been a lot better in the middle last season....problem is coady and peltier doesnt work very well.
I wouldnt have a problem with putting peltier in to man mark/do a job in specific games...but week in week out...it wont work. Would rather a coady-butterfield 2, with wingers

Again, like on Saturday, I don't think Peltier was poor. He is in there to break up play and he did okay in that respect. There was absolutely a lack of balance in the midfield but that is hardly Peltier or Coady's fault.

I clearly saw tonight's game differently, he broke up play well, one of our better performers. I was surprised to see ward go off so early, thought he had a decent early first half.

Said it before got to dominate midfield that's the key at this level...Stead needs to sub and we set up like against Charlton then you have a chance..4-2-3-1 people called it after Boro to me this is the way forward now the excellent Hudson has made us tighter at the back...going forward in possession and being progressive this we have regressed under CP

You're not seriously trying to pull the race card?! Priceless... Twonk. He's not. He's just referring to your blind hatred toward Beckford. Really? So why the "looks a bit like Beckford" comment? I don't hate Beckford, just think he's still dining out on 3 good years at Leeds and has done nothing since, to justify his wages. Apart from Leeds, he never hit double figures over 9 years FFS! With Peltier, he was just a poor signing, second best RB in the squad. Because of this and the silly captain tag, we play him out of position, just to play "the Captain". He's not the best in the squad in his natural RB role. He's gash, replacing one of our many CM's. Whoever sanctioned this signing needs to take a step back.

i thought peltier was better tonight, but we wouldn,t of scored if we were still playing now. clean sheet nice, but goals win games and we created very little. two defensive midfielders need a lot of attacking flair from the other four up front , we just dont have that i,m affraid. i would be probably happy with that as an away point but you need much more at home ,i feel if we had pressed wigan a bit we would of won ,they didn,t look too confident when harried at the back but we stood off them .

Thought he covered well, tracked back, broke up play. Thought the midfield 3 were spot on.

Is peltier the new boo and hate figure?! He was miles better than coady tonight - coady was awful and butterfield only marginally better imo. Dreadful spectacle....but a clean sheet is a start i suppose........oh and which numpty picked wells as mom? I am a fan but he was dire tonight. On the positive side, hudson and lynch did well and robinson much improved second half.

I thought Peltier did okay tonight. For me the whole problem is the approach - the whole midfield are obviously told to protect the back four and not venture too far forward. They are far too static, don't support each other and obviously aren't encouraged to be creative. In possession this means we are predictable as 90% of attacks end with a long ball up to the isolated strikers and when we are out of possession were are so deep we almost give up half the pitch and the opposition can launch attacks from our half-way line.
We couldn't continue being as open and conceding as many goals as we have, but we have gone far, far too far the other way. We could take Peltier out of the midfield (if we think that is the problem), but if the approach is the same from the manager nothing will change. Keeping things tight will only keep us up if we can score some goals at the other end. And we won't score anywhere near enough with such defensive tactics, particularly at home.
Setting us up to play such anti-football is just about acceptable when palying away to teams at the top end of the table, but not at home, and not at home to a team who has started the season slowly and has struggled away from home. Wigan started like a team without confidence, as did Boro, but our defensive tactics allowed them a foothold in the game. As a result they started to boss the game, particularly as the first half wore on and created a few good chances. Luckily Smithies was in good form and they missed the others. It looks too much like relying on the bounce of the ball to me and not trying to make things happen for ourselves.

I bet Peltier starts on Saturday and we go all out defence again, think I'll give a miss after tonight. Absoloutely woeful against a side who haven't got a point away all season. We get a corner in the 90th minute and we've 4 men on the half way line marking 1 FFS.
If this is what we can expect from Powell going forward god help us, fucking rubbish !!!!!

I dont mind him in there.
The only thing that might encourage me to shift him would be Smith's iffy form.

Hogg back in for Pelts when fit and that 3 in midfield looks so much more balanced.
