Both full backs the bright spots tonight. Robinson looked much more assured than he did on Saturday.

I actually didn't think he played too well and was particularly frustrated with the timing of his jumps for headers and his vision on the ball.

So if we now have 2 proper defending full backs and a leader at centre half, do we need Pelts holding when coady can do the job fine?

Not seeing a million quid True. Looks more like a player you would pick up on the cheap and mould into a very reliable defender.

asked to come in and cover the centre backs, not allowed over the half way line??? he clearly has so little leeway on the pitch he might find it difficult to make a balls of anything.. be honest we still made some very basic errors and got away with them..
if you have 10 outfield players doing exactly what is asked of them and no more then you might get a 0-0 like tonight. Wigan were not great and we got a point, id be surprised if we get away with it again, blackpool perhaps or Fulham whilst they are so poor..??

Seems a bit limited in his vision, lots of sideways and backward passing. Was the same when I saw him for Wolves and Blackpool though so I don't think it's down to instruction from Powell

As we always say on here - its all a matter of opinions, and my opinion is that both full backs looked poor.
Sorry, but there it is!

Defensively but we miss his outlet down that side But I suppose shoring up the defence is more important at the moment

Defensively good and I think offensively he grew into it a bit. In a few games time I think we will have a good player.. No sure about smith at the moment. I'd put Pelts in there personally .. Pelts hudson lynch robinson is a solid 4

its a solid 8 at the moment.. wigan were not great.. try that against other teams and once they have scored its game over pretty much, they could just play the game out and save themselves for playing a team that was trying to win a game..
wigan got a bit of a shock when scannell actually ran with the ball...the rest didn't reach a professional football game standard...

Football is a wonderful thing, different opinions from the same game make me chuckle,I thought both full backs were poor tonight,Robinson is no better than Dixon as a defender and he's worse going forward,Peltier is wasted in midfield and should be at right back where he is better than Smith,Coady can play the holding midfield role instead,so there you have it,easy int it.

Pelts hudson lynch robinson is a solid 4 Agree with this...Peltier and robinson would be pretty solid at the back...but it would offer very little going forward....shame hunt isnt still with us (not to bring that argument up) as robinson seems ideal to have playing a simple defensive game and shifting across to a back 3 to cover for hunts attacking.

I also thought that both full-backs were poor tomight. Robinson got skinned loads of times and misjudged headers (one was appalling). Almost every time he recived the ball he immediately passed it backwards. Dixon gets forward and supports attacking play a lot better.

Which were naysmith's decent games? I can't remember any. He was awful and his legs had gone completely. A shocking signing even for league one. I'm sure Robinson can be better than ol' jocky Wilson.

Pelts hudson lynch robinson is a solid 4 The concern is it looks like Lynch could well be out for leeds. Gerrard won't be thrown back in. Powell said he badly needs games or words to that effect. So, does he risk Wallace or put Peltier or smith there. Not really a great choice.

Maybe not the best comparison...it was very brief i will give you that.. but i think in his first few games until he got injured he looked like a proper defender (maybe it was after the gash we'd had). Strong tackles and right place right time

He certainly showed he has an appetite for defending on Saturday.

Pelts hudson lynch robinson is a solid 4 If Lynch is injured I would drop Smith in next to Hudson, Pelts to right back. That way we have some pace and athleticism alongside organisation and defending qualities.

Smith had a poor game.
Robinson started well, and got better throughout. He is a good signing that will help the team be more solid.

I was calling for Dixon to be brought on for his attacking dribbling after 50mins, personally thought Robinsons positioning was awful tonight and I can think of twice off the top of my head where a long ball from their left wing sailed straight over his head to their winger who put 2 very easy crosses in, one of which should have been put away. Struggles to head it and looks scared to put a cross in, 80th minute 0-0 at home and he had 10 yards of space to cross it and chose to pass it back to Wallace... Very frustrating. Hogg in Peltiers role Saturday if fit, Peltier right back and Dixon left back for me. I understand it was our first clean sheet tonight but I feel this line up gives us more attacking width and I want to see us take the game to Leeds because their full backs looked awful Saturday

I thought Robinson was shaky - he hit a terrible cross field pass that was cut out in the centre circle and never looked that comfy with his man
He also seemed to have positioning problems meaning his winger usually bought the ball down easily or Robinson wasn't in a position to compete (leaping desperately off balance for headers and a few last ditch tackles) . Attacking wise he was on his heels and not as alert to give and goes as Dixon is (in the first half he should have got behind them if he'd anticipated the return pass)
Was excited when he signed but yet to see anything to excited about

Funnily enough I singled Robinson out for praise after the game. Did his defensive duties well and snuffed out some potentially dangerous attacks. He's only young, and hopefully the areas of his games which aren't yet up to scratch will improve week on week.

The concern I have about brining a loanee in of equal standard to a player we already have is that we are developing another team's player at the expense of our own.
