Yes. The attendance is 14,500. I think you' ll find the club would be happy to announce the actual attendance, IF all clubs would do the same but ALL announce the gate/tickets sold. Furthermore, it would put us at a disadvantage in the commercial world to publish a figure which for the above mentioned reason made us look comparatively poorly supported. Can't really work out why it's such a big deal to so many? I know that it is no big deal but it is a particular irritant for me. Announcing the attendance used to be part of the ritual of football but it is meaningless now. The commercial argument just makes things worse because it draws attention to the deceit behind it.

But it's not deceit, is it? The rule is all clubs publish the amount of tickets sold, and admit that they do it. They don't hide that fact.

Its a shame that the football club does not attract more Asians...16% in Kirklees and almost 25% of under 18s. They simply dont watch football and its a big loss to the club. A splendidly well made point, although completely irrelevant to a thread about how we publish attendance/gate figures.

Folk get hung up about some strange things.
I knew the attendance was low last night as I was there, and I have eyes.
Do I really care what the exact figure was and how it was calculated? Absolutely not.

It's interesting to know how many actually attended the game. I don't care how many had tickets for it and didn't make it.
I know it's not important but people like to know what the attendance was not the 'gate'.
We used to announce both. I presume that's stopped now?
Out of 11 that I know only 5 went (for a variety of reasons). It seemed like a heck of a lot didn't make in on Tuesday. I'd imagine it would be something the club would be pretty worried about.

The only purpose of giving out a gate figure at all is to be able to compare one club's support with other clubs. Can't think of any other reason why its done.
If all the other clubs are giving a figure based on the amount of tickets sold for the game, then Town HAVE to do the same, or it would be pointless even announcing a figure at all.
To me its an utter irrelevance which system is used, so long as we have a like for like comparrison ( which is what we have) .
It was a poor crowd but as stated there are understandable reasons for that in terms of form and £26 is barely going to attract ANY pay on the doors for a midweek game against wigan on a champions league night.
But bare in mind, in the 80s ,back in the 'great days of Leeds Road' that people like to reminisce about, we'd have struggled to get 4 or 5000 for a comparable 2nd tier fixture.

Probably a tax incentive as well, as we pay £3 for every ticket sold to KSDL.

Look at the Arsenal TV crowd shots and white british male is not in the majority. You only have to look around the playing fields of Kirklees that asians either play amongst themselves or not at all despite being avid premiership followers sadly there's little chance of getting them out of their own "communities" to watch the local teams. At least cricket has finally managed to tap into the local asian talent over the last few years.
