Clibbens acknowledged that Ayre had "looked after us" with the transfers of Coady and Robinson.
So, I can't see the problem myself.

He certainly "looked after us" when we were top of the league with the premiership in our sights!!!!!! That idiot Allam who owns Hulls on the panel too, why not go the full hog and get Vincent Tan, Charles Green and Mike Ashley on board for their take on football!!!

Ayre and Rubery were learning about the business of football when they were with us...just like Clibbens and Hoyle are now.
They didnt INTENTIONALLY lose their bottle or cock things up!

Joe, it's a chance for chairmen to sit down and possibly do some business in a relaxed environment, I don't even mind if Davy invites himself along. Move on.

I know it's going over old ground but any idiot with half a football brain would've realised that by selling your main player (Stewart) to your rivals will result in your form taking a turn for the worst on the pitch at a very crucial time in the season.

Rubery did INTENTIONALLY try to put the club in administration as no other way to get some of his money back and one reason why the fair play rules were put in place.

Good chance to network.
Closer we are to PL clubs including Liverpool the better chance we have of pulling off deals.

I read this week that Ruberry lost 12.5 million pounds at Town, then wrote it off.

Club life president Davey needs to cough up for his meal with part of the reported 2 million he recieved from the club for the return of the 40% shares.

You'd think Deano had been living in a cave at the time, the way some folk have reacted to this.
I'm sure the club are well aware of the repercussions of the Rubery era, infact I'm sure one of the current directors was an employee at the time, as were a fair few current employees.
We look to be building some decent links with one of the biggest football clubs in the world, yes it won't sit easy that Ayre was responsible for some highly controversial decisions in his day, but that's a long time ago.
Dean will still be counting the cost of Admin now to a large degree (having to buy the club off a man with questionable motives being the biggest of them all), but we have to move on now.
And its for a good cause, as already mentioned.

I read this week that Ruberry lost 12.5 million pounds at Town, then wrote it off. Because it would allow the club to survive administration wasn't it Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

I read this week that Ruberry lost 12.5 million pounds at Town, then wrote it off. It was an irresponsible Ruberry/Bruce gamble that didnt pay off and just one reason why the fair play rules were introduced.

Easy to say when its not your money on the line. They took a calculated gamble and got it wrong. Its not the end of the world and doesnt define them as the scum of the earth from then until eternity.

My simplistic take on it all, was that Ayre was running the club as if the money would never run out, Rubery signed off on everything and then got wobbly when he thought he was getting divorced(it didn't help that the crowds barely raised despite being in contention at the top end of the table all season) and the second the money stopped then so did Bruce's efforts and he waited for the sack and the club drifted, hemorrhaging cash until David Taylor was able to persuade Rubery to sell/relinquish control but didn't have enough resources to cover the losses (or fingers to plug the holes in the dike).
During the subsequent admin period, Rubery waived his £12m in loans to allow a takeover. I don't believe Davy would have taken over if Rubery's portion of the debt hadn't have been written off. The website deal was either part of the original sale to Taylor or the writing off of the loans.
Either way he'll never see anything near the value of the original loans from the website revenue.

Probably worth adding also that it was the PFA on behalf of the players who petitioned for the admin.
