bit random I know but there's a few I can think of which would probably still do a job for us.
Novak Roberts Woods Is it wrong to say Alan Lee? probably better than Jon Stead and ALWAYS put all the effort he could into helping the team whether that being twatting Alex Bruce or scoring a tap in
All I can think of at the moment im half asleep, think them would all get in our team with how its playing at the moment

Alan Lee was garbage.
I think we were right to release all of them, none of them have proved us wrong. Roberts release was his own fault, although we have missed his quality of delivery at times.

Lee was awful in his last season here, worse than Stead is. He was past it then, he's more than past it now. Michael Smith from Swindon might be a shout going forward. Was with Powell at Charlton, big lad with good feet, should go get him and Luongo in Jan, or pay them the money now and get them on loan and make it perm in Jan.

Novak and Arfield.
Still find both of them leaving truly bizarre.

Novak and Arfield. Still find both of them leaving truly bizarre. why? They both didnt do much for us, in and out of the team. Novak got stick for not being good enough and arfield especially got plenty of stick. Novaks now in and out of a poor birmingham side so why should we have kept him? Arfield has turned himself around and now is the player we hoped he would be for us but sometimes it jusy doesnt work out, it was the right decision at the time.

I'd agree with Novak.. What we replaced him with was bizarre.

Letting Novak go, who is out of the Brum side at the moment with injury, was one of the worst decisions the club made. We didnt try hard enough to keep him. Ok he wanted improved terms and he deserved them.

I would get rid of any poster who uses the word 'of' instead of 'have'.

I would get rid of any poster who uses the word 'of' instead of 'have'. I`ve known teachers make this mistake and seen it on the BBC subtitles. Worrying lack of education in our schools.

You must have really enjoyed league one. Luckily for you, we might be back there quite soon

Novak and Arfield. Still find both of them leaving truly bizarre. Really?! Novak was the very definition of average. Arfield hardly imposed himself at League 1 level and was more anonymous with the step up. What's bizarre is that somehow we contrived to bring in replacements that weren't significantly better.

Lee Clark probably gave us either our 2nd or 3rd most entertaining season so far this century (the League 2 promotion season was the best) - I'm not sure whats wrong with looking back fondly on that?

If not the man, his formation. The 424 with Rhodes, Novak, Pilks and Robbo... *orgasm*

Novak is the only player I would have kept, we really could do with someone to run around, work hard and just make a general pain in the arse of himself up top.

He was throwing silly money around because he could.
I'm not having the "couldnt get us up" argument either. that promotion was very much his, I looked at the results at the time and the 15 or 16 games after he left we gained pretty much equal points to the same number of games in his final run of games that had somehow earned him the boot.
I still find it interesting that we werent as decisive in getting rid of Grayson, and that Robins himself recognised he needed to go about 7 months (or charitably about 3 months) after it really should have been forced.
Its obviously not goimg to happen, but it would have been interesting to see where Clark would have gone in this new era of financial constraint, but at a club on a steady footing as opposed to Birmingham.

Novak would be a great ally for Wells - just as he was for Rhodes. He'd be battering defended allowing Wells to do his thing. Right now 'average' would be superb and I'd have him alongside Wells in a heartbeat. Arfield - quality was always there but as usual we didn't make use of it. I see the same thing happening with Dixon now.

Arfield did not show enough here, he said so himself. I said at the time I thought we should have kept Novak and imo we still haven't replaced him as a 3rd striker with anyone nearly as good.

Bit of an unusual one, but I'd say Paul Mullin. Thought he was a good young talent while he was here, similar sort of player to Novak, that potentially had the ability to be a decent player for us. Glad to see that he has started his career with Morecambe extremely well.
