Only Town would sign a player then have to "change his run" putting him out of action for 6 months+!
You couldn't make it up.
Remember when we signed Robbie Williams who had a broken leg at the time and was out for a similar length of time after signing?

Why on earth did we sign him? If I remember we signed him for 300k when we really needed a striker. He has played one or two games for us and has hardly impressed. What was the point of this signing? For the future? For me this is is an example one of our biggest problems...signing players for the future. Yes it may come good, but what about the here and now? We have needed a striker for over a year We needed a centre mid for more than a year We needed a keeper for over a year Whilst the academy is important it's hardly produced anything of note recently has it? I'll be honest, and this is my opinion, I don't care one bit about our academy. I pay money to watch the first team only and they way that is going at the moment I will be keeping my season ticket money in my pocket next season for the first time in 25 years. Signing players for the future just annoys fans as the board and manager are seen not to be sorting out the issues at hand. When we were really skint and didn't sign foreign youngsters every ten mins we had more players coming through the ranks, Booth, stead, Dyson etc. Who was the last person to come through that was half decent? Jack Hunt probably? I'm not having Duane Holmes as quality...He isn't. It makes me wonder if we are using our budget for our first team on academy players for the future. Why can't we recruit players from the local area for nothing who want to play for the club like we used to? He's impressed me when he's played. Not sure why he doesn't get picked though. Its true we have a stupid amount of attacking midfielders when we arguably need another 2 strikers

I would suggest that it is a prerequisite requirement for future transfers!

I feel more sorry for Majewski at the moment.. He must be wondering why he's bothered. I kind of understand what you are saying but has he done much for us yet?! Another talented but inconsistent lightweight signing from bobbins when what we needed was a stronger bigger more mobile spine to the team! It wasn't just robins was it. The club had been after him for a while. Begs the question why they then appointed a manager who was unable to utilize his type of player. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Why do people - and I've read it now in a few threads - keep saying we've needed a striker for a year now.
We signed Wells for a record fee back in January - surely inside a year ago???
He might not be setting the league on fire - but you can't blame DH for that surely?

Lolley did have a running style that caused his injury when he moved up to professional training.. But i think Powell is limited at the moment to what he can do regarding the players at his disposal and what they think of him as a squad.. One of the first things Powell said was it was a clean start, everyone was starting with a clean slate and if they perform will be given the chance. So that really ties Powell into three to five games of giving the current set of players the chance to grasp their opportunity, if Powell didn't do this and brought in , let's say a striker straight off, then that leaves three or four strikers pissed off and the rest of the squad thinking what happened to giving players a chance? At least now he can bring in that striker having seen only the one goal in three games and how soft and immobile the front line are. He's also learned that he needs a player to play in midfield with a bit of intelligence, he tried Pelts but he can't play the midfield part of the role, he tried Coady/Hogg yesterday and they left too many gaps in the centre and non of them were intelligent enough to make the right choice at the right time..A lot of this problem stems from the front line..If they can't hold the ball up or make more of a nuisance of themselves to push the centre-halves back then th ball is turned over to the opposition too quickly and Coady/Butterfield/Scannell and Hogg have to turn tail too quickly and are out of shape... Unfortunately the three games have seen Middlesboro/Wigan and Leeds take advantage and we've ended up with the one point.. When i said just then Middlesboro/Wigan and Leeds??? Jesus christ folks it wasn't long ago (2011/12) i was saying Rochdale, Bury and Hartlepool after 1-1,, 2-2 and 0-0 at the start of that season?? So do try and keep some perspective..

Wondered how long it would be before the old "wasn't too long ago since we were playing Rochdale, Bury etc" phrase would make an appearance! I'm afraid patience is wearing very thin with Mr Hoyle (not denying he's done great things for the club) playing billy big balls in league 1 is all well and good but hiding behind this FFP in the championship when nobody else appears to be complying with it is very frustrating! The club IMO has taken it's focus off the most important thing at a football club and that's an entertaining football team not a fancy meal at Canalside or another business partner.

Adhering to FFP is the sensible approach regardless of what others may be doing.
It is a bit rich to accuse Deano of hiding behind it considering what he has ploughed into this club year on year.

the problem is we do sign players for the future but when in the future are they going to play, when they are late 20s we play the same shite players and get the same results as yesterdays tepid performances no guts, passion etc. surely bringing in a few youngster ie like bunn will bring new life to the team cant do much worse to be honest. the likes of billing and lolley for me are at the front of the Q get them in id even maybe say sinnott would be worth a try. and what the hell is maj thinking good player not getting in and watching players not able to string passes together thought he was brought in to thread the balls for wells.

Oh how many times are we going to hear that! It's as though he's the only chairman in the country that puts money into a club! Nobody forced him to put his money in. Some fans would believe "Deano" if he said the earth was flat!

I feel more sorry for Majewski at the moment.. He must be wondering why he's bothered. I did feel sorry for Hammill too but I think it is good in a strange way that he is out of the team as all his skills and efforts are wasted at the moment as no one is in the box challenging for the ball - he would actually do better to run in to the box with the ball and shoot or be fouled so we get a penalty. If we get someone decent up front then bring back Hammill to provide the ammunition.

Do you honestly believe they have taken their focus off the team? Entertaining or otherwise? I would guess that the people who are responsible for all aspects of our onfield side are working their bollocks of trying to turn things round. Regarding the fancy meals and business partners, this is all geared at bringing every single penny into the club to progress. I'm guessing this is done by staff employed to run the commercial side of things and not by people involved with the playing squad. Don't try and use the attempts at increasing revenue as a stick to beat the club with.

Fact is,we need a keeper, smithies not good enough,We need a big six foot plus striker for naki to feed off,A midfield general to kick some arse and if we carry on with the recent run of form a new manager(who runs the team from the dugout)not halfway down the tunnel..rant over..

Plenty of idiots have pissed away a fortune in football, but not on clubs like town. History also tells us that there are no fairytale endings when you simply chuck money at it. Disregarding the fact that FFP means that we could not do that even if we wanted to anyway.

Am I the on,y one that see the clubs transfer policy is to sign young players with potential, then sell most on for profit.Good business.
The only problem is you need to build a team. We had one under in Lee Clark. That policy won't work in the championship.
When we are back in league one, it will work again.

Carr is 20 years old and Vardy is 27. Some time yet to develop into a player Vardy is now. Vardy was plying his trade in the North East counties and the Unibond league 1, with Stocksbridge and Halifax, at Carrs age. Give the kid a chance, get him on loan to a league 1/2 club, give him first team pro experience and go from there.. We had one under in Lee Clark. That policy won't work in the championship. When we are back in league one, it will work again. You talk about building a team and then that our transfer policy was a joke. A joke would be to build a team around your 2 quoted midfielders who would leave for free at the end of this season as their contracts expire, now that would not only be foolhardy as team building is concerned but financially irresponsible and unsustainable. Paying transfer fees for players and then allowing them to leave for free. Is it too difficult to understand? Your points of views are not only baffling but conflicting too. Are you suggesting that Coady (our only transfer in that could be described as youthful) is not Championship standard? Do I really need to reel off the Championship appearances by Murphy, Majewski, Peltier, Hudson, Butterfield are these young players with potential? You build a team around players under contract for 2 or more years not ones leaving at the end of the season.

we made more money than we spent in the transfer window.
this appeared to be the aim.
the actual outcome of the first team on the pitch seems to be very secondary.
if we continue to do this and our youngsters come through and are successful we will have a good first division team with a better bank balance. If we sell the youngsters quickly, we will be a poor team in the first division with a very healthy bank balance. etc etc etc..
we may at some point be the wealthiest 2nd division team ever. We could even sing songs about it.

You talk about wealth! We have to sell to try and make up for the substantial gap between our very modest income (for the Championship) and our expenditure.

ergo, we cannot afford to be here. It therefore follows that the club should openly admit this and then we can all decide what we do as supporters.
the elephant in the room is that we are in the championship. this seems to be ignored and the acceptance that we cant compete and certainly wont go daft trying to do so is very hard to take for some.
I don't blame dean for his policy, I do blame him for having a go at fans who are being asked to support and pay for the club to have 3 poor seasons in this division and to have to 'like it or lump it'...
Does he or did he really truly expect any different???
Its like we have got into the premier league and getting spanked a lot whilst still being financially in the shit.
