lillis got a reaction.. powell has got us a point in 3 games.. im a big believer in blaming the players but if you cant get a squad of 20 odd to put in at least a decent level of effort and attitude/concentration, you cant put them all in the reserves or sell them ..
he is the manager and he has to get some motivation into it..thats what he gets paid for at htfc because he cant buy his way out and it seems he cant loan his way out of the shit. Even with Hudson we defend badly as a team, if he cant get round that without having everyone back the whole game its maybe time to try going the other way and picking a team and tactics to get forward and stay there as much as is humanly possible. Ok you can get caught on the break but we do now and we concede with everyone one back, what have we got to lose right now?? lets try and get in front and then work out our next move from there..

It isn't surprising that Lillis got an initial reaction out of the players, caretaker managers frequently do, but there's nothing to suggest it wouldn't have petered out after a couple more matches. In the grand scheme it is irrelevant that the team have been poor in Powell's first three matches. It is how Huddersfield do over the next six months and beyond that matters. I'm always suspicious when new managers lead teams on great runs, they so often are false dawns. As long as Powell is learning from the current malaise and working to gradually improve things, that's what is really important.

Everyone needs to get behind Powell now. I'm sick of hearing about Mark Lillis, I agree he's a legend at Town and a nice bloke too. But everyone is going on like he's Brian Clough, he's won one game this season and hasn't managed to keep a clean sheet. He is also one of the worst Halifax managers in history. Mark Lillis is arquably the only person in the club who knows the players capabilities. Powell needs to use this knowledge to advantage to speed up

Read in today's examiner that Powell has learned a lot about his players in the last 3 games. I thought on reading it that a/ there were folk at the club he could have asked anyway b/ had he never seen us play before? And c/ didn't he do his homework before his interview.

The Robbins spunkfest was far worse. Far far worse! Powell inheritated a motivated slik passing team from Mark Lillis. We at least know what this squad are capable of especially after the improved form shown against both Reading and Charlton..
