Just imagine how much money wiziwig is costing football clubs around the world.. Why pay big bucks for Sky and B T when you can get matches for free. Not complaining though as it comes in handy when straped for cash and also helpes those like myself who live well outside the area.

Quite, I wonder what steps the authorities are taking to shut it (and the other streaming sites) down? Where is wiziwig based, does anyone know?

Sky ( to which I subscribe ) costs me about 80 pound a month.. Season tickets cost a packet, away travel is a drain... Football has priced itself to the point it gets what it deserves .. If me watching WIZIWIG puts a 0.0000000001 % dint in some ridiculously salaried prima donnas wage packet I think ill live with myself

I only recently heard about wiziwig on this website but seems they has been showing matches for many years. The saving of a Sky sports bundle would be in the region of £46 a month or £552 a year plus you might have to sign up to a lenthy contract. Wiziwig viewing could vastly reduce season tickets sales similar to what we are seeing today and the rising travel costs etc that goes with following your team does not help matters. Who runs the wiziwig website as flabbergasted how it has been allowed to get away with what its doing.

Just noticed that Sky had a £7.632 billion turnover 2013/14.

It is what it is, it might hit sky in the pocket(ever so slightly) but im sure they can afford it. On the other hand everyone that i know only watches wiziwig when the games not covered by sky/bt. Could stop some people attending games but lets be fair a dodgy stream isnt much of a replacement for the match day experience. Also if it wasnt for skys ridiculous contracts/owning the game clubs could probably charge for this kind of service on terms to suite the best welfare of the club.

Streaming has been available for years. Used to watch all kinds of sports, especially football for the premier league or big foreign games like Barca vs Real.
If the event is being shown on TV or anywhere live then you'll definitely be able to find a stream. For Town/The Championship that's the only issue..lack of live games. Now that some foreign betting site is apparently streaming all championship games were lucky enough to have streams available regularly.

Probably quite a lot, as i think has been said by another poster this kind of thing has been around for years and imo is not a replacement to sky for quality/reliability issues.

I would rather have the mentioned £80 a month in my pocket plus quality/reliability seems very good for what i have witnessed..

Yeah i do agree with you and have cancelled my sky for the first time in years as not at home enough to justify the cost, now using a friends skygo/bt sports app. Picture quality and relying on internet connection can be an issue though.

Who runs the wiziwig website as flabbergasted how it has been allowed to get away with what its doing. Theyre not hosting anything, merely providing directions. If for some reason, maps (google) didnt tell you where banks (live football streams) were, so you asked a shady looking bloke (Wiziwig)who is hanging around on the corner if he knows, and the shady bloke gives you directions (gives you a link), and you go to the bank (visit the link) and loot their money (watch a live stream) because someone else unknown has cracked open their safe (intercepted a live stream and made it public) then who is committing the crime? Its you and the safe cracker, not the shady looking bloke.

But I imagine they'll be trying to shut the streams down, even if they can't manage it.

at the moment it seems that the law is behind where the technology is. My understanding is that it is unclear if a crime is being committed because with a live stream you are not downloading anything. I think there are copyright laws and Piracy laws concerning downloading and file sharing. Live streaming seems to occupy a grey area of the law. How much do the club recieve for allowing games to be filmed at the John Smiths.

Plus it could be argued the ~ £2.5m all Championship clubs get from the Premier League as "solidarity payments" is related to "broadcast fees".

Surely the filming of matches at grounds was never intended to be broadcast live through websites like wiziwig.

I've known football forums get warnings for linking to live streams.

For the people saying stream quality doesn't match up to Sky.. it all depends on the game and which channels are showing it. If the game is shown on Sky/BT and you where to look you can find absolute perfect quality streams where the only thing that limits it is your own computer display and internet speeds. As previously mentioned though, that's obviously going to be more likely for Man Utd vs Man City than it is for Huddersfield Town vs Sheffield Wednesday. Solution? Town need to get promoted
