He's an Absoloute beast! We've been crying out for a player like that to support wells for a long Time. Caused their defence a whole world of problems, got stuck in and you could clearly see be was loving it! Now we actually looked like we won some 50/50s and headers...

I want him to be good for us but for goodness sake let me actually see him play for a full ninety and then assess him. FWIW I want him to do well and help Wells .Let me be allowed my opinion .I allow other fans theirs.

Played well. Realise just one game but looked hungry. Wells looked chuffed to bits when he came on. Was nice to see a bit of interplay between the two. He doesn't have to do loads to make a huge difference to us, just holding the ball up and making a physical nuisance of himself by hassling defenders. What a relief it'll be to the whole team to see the ball sticking up front rather than coming straight back.

Full kudos to the guy , looked passionate and interested , showed his class and many other attributes in his cameo . All the bollocks saying he's too old and too big is shite , he is what we need right now and the longer we have him in the side the better , short term stop gap maybe but I'll take him over any other player available any day , class quality and plays with pride , grant holt take a bow son !!

Even in his k Latter days at Norwich he always made a difference. Get behind him as a senior pro he could be really good for us. Especially with Hudson at the back. We have a couple of guys who don't accept failure and want to help those around them.
I really hope he plays a big part in the next few weeks . He is a heart on the sleeve player will give his all. Some of the other players will need to step up to his commitment standards or I suspect there will be some choice discussions if they dont

Certainly well on the way to proving my doubts wrong. I originally said right type of player but perhaps two years too late. Feared an Alan Lee mk2.
Credit to him though, looked exactly what we need. And seemed really up for it.

He will bring the best out of Wells He was screaming at Wells to spin off him for a potential flick on from a long throw. Good to see.

Just out of interest does anyone know roughly what it would cost to sign him permanently? Is he on about 30k a week a Wigan? I know its not a very Hoyle thing to do but for 2 years until the end of his career he could well be worth the investment. There arent many positions that make such a significant difference but Holt is the player we have missed since Booth retired.

Get him signed up.
Perfect partner for Wells.
Been there seen it, done it.
Was dragging their defenders all over the place.
Quality player.
Him and Wells, with Bunn on either flank or behind in the hole.
Decent.

Poor man's Alan Lee - if he can play 20 like that every week he will be a star here!

Typical DATM thread. People saying hes over the hill, that hes fat, slow, old and then after 30 mins on the pitch hes a world beater!
If anyone thinks we are going to get better than him on loan they need their bumps feeling! Ex Prem goalscorer who fills a massive gap.

Really hope you're right but lets get a bit more than 25 minutes out of him before we commit. Plenty of players have looked good in their first appearance and then faded. That said, he was a breath of fresh air. Not just bullying their defensive line but talking to the younger lads and leading at the front. Looks like the real deal for us but lets see.

Wasn't expecting much from him based on the number of appearances for Wigan(& wherever it was they sent him on loan to before). When he came on though he was everything we've been crying out for ages for-lifted the team and crowd with his hold up play and there was some very nice link up play with Wells & Bunn and it gave time for the midfield and defence to push up and support. I thought when Scans came on as well he was enjoying showing Millwall what they missed out on

Absolutely loved it Grant is pure class best debut for years we looked a different team with him playing like that.Well done all for bringing him in, we've been crying out for this type of class for 18 months. Reminds me when we signed Rod Belfitt and Pater Eastoe. a long time ago, class is permanent.

Almost 2 years at 30k pw is £3m, which puts him out of our reach, I would suggest. Unless Wigan pay part of it.

Looks a handy player for us based on today but absolutely no way hed be worth 30k. That money could go a hell of a long way. Wigan only have that money to be stupid with because of parachutes. Hopefully if he continues to impress we can sort out a season loan.

Agree about Holt though, he was just what the doctor ordered.

Aye think we're better seeing how he does, look to extend for the season and use that time to find a more long term replacement for next summer. stead and lee have both been mistakes and holt, although a better player, could be a much more expensive one.

Good to read. I certainly like the sound of his approach & attitude today. Maybe he's sick of not playing. Bodes well for us. I look forward to seeing him don the blue & white.

One month loan Thanks Barnsley Terrier Must admit I was cynical when I saw this yesterday morning, but well done Barnsley Terrier, although where in the name of God do you get a tip off about a loan deal at 4.00 in the morning???!!!! Hoult could be an absolute gem of a signing for us, he looked lean and mean and will add some real physicality and aggression to our front line, no lack of skill either.

Hi Terriers Just signed up to say Grant Holt wont let you down, the man is a legend here in Norwich. What he lacks in pace he makes up for in commitment and attitude and getting in the faces of the opposition. Not sure why it didn't work out for him at Wigan but if the fans get behind him he will give it everything he has. Good luck for the rest of the season and hope you are all soon singing his song.

Eastoe paired up with Mel Eves in '83 / '84. I think Eves was one of the best loan signings I'd ever seen up to that point, 7 games and 4 goals. Also noticeable that season, in what is now the Championship, were the abysmal crowds. 17 Dec, less than 8,000 @ home v Middlesbro !

It was nice to have a physical presence upfront at last, good debut from Holt and certainly far from the fat lump Wigan fans were making him out to be. Maybe having an outlet to a frontman who can hold the ball up will allow us to be a little more attacking.

Great little cameo in the second half and relieved a lot of pressure fromt he team by making the ball stick up front more
That said, he looked to be fairly tired towards the end of the game, and at his age hes not going to be a 90 minute player week in week out. We still need to find a solution around Bunn-Ward-Majewski-Wells

Anyone have a rough idea what Vaughan is on per week? Does anyone know how long he's out for this time? Or more to the point when he returns to (Full) fitness and i use that term loosely how many games before he gets crocked again.
