Nothing to do with me, other than I have provided a few facts and pictures. Available from September 18th - could be a nice stocking filler. Here's the press release that has just dropped into my inbox. " HUDDERSFIELD TOWN MISCELLANY Terriers Trivia, History, Facts and Stats
By Tony Matthews
Hardcover: 160 pages Publisher: Pitch Publishing Ltd (18 September 2014) ISBN-10: 1909626260 978-1909626263 RRP: £9.99Huddersfield Town Miscellany collects together all the vital information you never knew you needed to know about the Terriers. In these pages you will find irresistible anecdotes and the most mindblowing stats and facts. Heard the one about the striker who scored 223 goals in 268 appearances for the club? How about the centre-forward who netted 289 goals in just 40 games before joining Town? Do you know what has been the longest journey (by road) any Huddersfield Town team has had to make to play a Football League fixture? When Town were unbeaten at home in the FA Cup for 19 years? Or which Town player had a record 32 letters in his name? All these stories and hundreds more appear in a brilliantly researched collection of trivia – essential for any fan who holds the riches of blue-and-white history close to their heart. Everything you never knew you needed to know about the Terriers… • Did you know Denis Law was only 16 years and 303 days old when he made his debut against Notts County – then a Terriers record? • How about the fact that 21 Huddersfield players have so far been capped by England, World Cup-winning left-back Ray Wilson being the club’s most decorated Englishman. • Or that Town’s Billy Smith was the first ever player to score a goal direct from a corner in the Football League – against Arsenal, early in the 1924/25 season that saw the new law introduced. • What was the last time Huddersfield Town played a game on Christmas Day? • Which Town player holds the record for first team appearances as a substitute, coming off the bench no less than 72 times in five seasons? • And what was the result when England thrashed Holland in a full international match at Leeds Road? • All this blue-and-white trivia and much, much more within these pages … About the AuthorTony Matthews is recognised as the world’s most prolific author of factual sports books on one single subject – football – with 125 titles to his name to date. Tony delivered his first book, on wartime football, in 1975 and has since averaged at least three per year. Black Country born and bred, Tony now lives in the Cabrera Mountains in Andalucía." *EDIT* I've just noticed that this book is already available on eBay as a Buy It Now item HERE

8-2 to England was the score of the game at Leeds Road.....as for England players capped at Town, they must have been before the 60's, Mike O'Grady is one of the last ones.

You're right about that and as a further bit of trivia, the programme for that game is the most difficult one of all England programmes to find. If you DO find one it'll cost megabucks!

I got this for xmas (along with probably a lot of other posters on here). I've only just started skimming through it but I think I've spotted an error already. Theres a paragraph on abandoned games and claims there have only ever been 9 involving Town and lists them. However there is no mention of the one only about 10 seasons back away at Northampton Town that was abandoned at half time due to gale force winds. I remember as I was there, one of the advertising plaques on the away stand roof front came off and crashed to the ground, narrowly missing the Town fans sat on the front row. Then it started blowing over the ones around the edge of the pitch and I think that's when the ref stopped it. I might not be recalling it properly but I think we were losing 1-0 but we won the rearranged game(which I couldn't get to!)

I reckon that you'll be lucky to find ANY stat book, not just Town, which is 100% correct.

I love a bit of Town history. Everyone know who the first player to score a hat-trick at Wembley was?

No, but at a guess, if it's Town related, Alex Jackson when Scotland thrashed England?
