I bet Birmingham couldn't even afford Dave Hockaday.......and he'd do it for £50.00 a week and a pack of midget gems.......

It's remarkable he's lasted there as long as he has, with that abysmal home record.
His last game in charge saw Lee Novak in goal, successfully defending a penalty.............bizarre.
Anyway, he's now a free agent....waiting for Pardew's dismissal, ready to pounce!

Lee Clark's management record Dec 2008-Feb 2012 Huddersfield Town P 178 W 87 D 51 L 40 June 2012-Oct 2014 Birmingham City P 116 W 33 D 35 L 48 He can put his Town stats on his CV. Out of them two clubs that's a 40% win ratio not too bad ??

It was inevitably going to end in failure at Brum. Feel a bit sorry for him but he probably should not have gone there. I guess sometimes you have to take what is on offer.

It's a shock he's lasted so long, really thought he'd have been shown the door at the end of the last season.

To take on the Brum role took a bit of bottle and only an exceptional manager could succeed there. That he lasted so long speaks well of him. He will get something else I'd think. well said

The many 'bluenoses' who live round here ( South Midlands) all wanted rid because they could not see any plan or structure to the way the team was going about things. Pretty much how I felt during his time at Town when all that seemed to matter was the unbeaten record, though many of the games during the 43 were absolutely dire. He did well in the first full season he was with us because we were good at bullying the poor sides in the division but hardly ever beat anyone good e.g. Norwich. I always felt he was one of the most overrated managers on the circuit and I don't feel that he would have ever got us promoted but admired his passion for the club.

It will be interesting to see who is willing to take that job on now.
They have looked like a sinking ship for the past couple of seasons & hopefully that will continue.

I'm amazed it's taken so long, even without a proper owner to sack him.....credit to them for giving it such a long time.

Tired of hearing about him. Said he would fail and he will fail again given the chance. You can talk about budgets all you want but he is seriously flawed.

I also think too much is made of the difficulties he was under at Brum. Clark inherited a bloody good sqaud from Hughton who everyone then said overachieved. Other managers did better with lower wage bills. People love to make excuses for LC when ultimately the truth is that he just isn't up to it as a manager. They deserved to go down last season & 1 win in 23 is just shockingly bad. Yeovil had more wins than that with a bang average league one sqaud.

Actually feel Brum would have been relegated along with Yeovil but for a blatant deliberate miss of an open goal by Neil Danns (Bolton and ex Brum and Town) in the 86th minute which would have put Bolton 3-1 up. He clearly missed it on purpose as he knew it would put them down and then looked at his boot and blamed it for the miss.

They deserved to go down last season & 1 win in 23 is just shockingly bad. Yeovil had more wins than that with a bang average league one sqaud. Theres no doubt the off field shenanigans won't have helped and so much of their wage budget was tied into Zigic. But he took over a squad that had just finished 4th whilst also traipsing around europe in the UEFA cup and without losing anyone significant was able to add around 6 or 7 of his own signings to it, yet transformed them into a side scratting around near the drop zone most of the season. It was onl;y the following season that he lost more notable players and they'd have gone down but for a miracle on the last day. But lots of clubs lose key players- us for example. A good manager will cope with that even if he doesn't get much of the money to replace them with. Had it not been for the off field stuff i think hed have lost his job there a while ago. Can see him popping up at someone like Hartlepool in a month or two. The sort of job he should have taken after we sacked him IMO. Somewhere to learn his trade out of the spotlight.

Despite it all I feel sorry for Clark. I am sure he is an honest guy and is passionate about whatever team he manages. He tried hard at Town.
Maybe he is just not suited to football management.

I always thought he was biting off more than he could chew when he took that job. Weight of expectation far too high and the club was and still is in a complete mess. He should have opted for Gillingham when he had the chance. As for Birmingham, I too have a long memory and I await my opportunity to sing them that song.

I liked Lee Clark and still do. Not sure being Manager is really for him though, something in background is ideal for him and I think deserves better than managing a horrible club like Birmingham FC.
Good Luck Lee
