Is there any chance now we have our shares back that we can sort out the awful catering standards at the ground? I was in fairly early yesterday about an hour before kick off and went to order a pint of lager. The lass who served me had to ask which one was lager. She then started to pull it and the barrel went. She then tried again and ended up covered in froth (steady). I had to tell her the barrel had gone otherwise she was going to have a 3rd go. She pulled me 2 pints from the other pump which were both completely flat and tasted awful. I took it back and told them the gas had gone so she pulled another one which was obviously flat. She shrugged her shoulders and said that's the way it is and told the blokes behind me there was no lager. All this before 7pm. It might sound petty but its the 3rd time this season ive witnessed someone or i have had to point out the barrel or the gas has gone. £3.70 a pint and the quality and service is awful. Its a laughing stock compared to other clubs. I believe that the issue of catering has been raised at the ATT Voices Panel so this is something in progress but I would add that Sodexo provided catering services at one to the sites I work at in Tanzania and they were absolutely shocking, so much so that they lost the contract. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come and whilst they realise there are issues at the moment at the stadium I do not think that think that peoples patience will last if there is not noticeable improvement quickly

Sodexho had the catering contract where I worked and ended up losing it to Mitie Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Paid about £7.50 for a steak meal at Wetherspoons on Tuesday, including a pint of Abbot Ale (once Suffolk's finest, until they bought out Essex's finest, T.D. Ridley), four of us spent £50.00 before the game on food & beers, then a few quid on a taxi to ground - say £60.00 (I know - cheapskates!!) Now, because I am a fat, greedy bastard, I bought a pie at the ground at half time as well - £3.50. That's three pounds fifty pence for a fecking luke warm pie!!
Now, my argument is that the club will one day surely become a club where its members will be encouraged to engage with the club much more closely than they do at the present - can it really be so difficult to arrange proper beer (or that lager stuff for the ladies) and something half decent to eat and that £60.00 could be in the clubs pocket, then after the match keep the bars open, TV on to watch the rest of the results, listen to CP's analysis of our latest 4-0 triumph etc. I understand the difficulties, but I am a town fan and a customer and this attitude of asking us to just turn up, pay through the nose for shite then tell us to p*ss off after the game is really going to have to change.

No wonder if you're getting a taxi from the Lord Wilson and if you paid a tenner you were had! A taxi from the Rat, now that would be understandable

My experience having raised multiple issues with the club over the years whilst my lad was younger and more awkward on a matchday, is that they simply don't care about this.
I don't know why they don't care, I would if it was my club. But repeated "go and speak to such and such, its nowt to do with us" or "this is being discussed (but we're not doing anything)" etc etc etc tell me all I need to know.
He's now old enough that like a poster earlier in the thread (and me), that he eats and drinks at mealtimes and can manage the seemingly massive struggle to last for 2.5 hrs without having to buy something that is pretty low quality and over priced anyway.....so, I don't really care either, but it seems a shame that fans are having their "matchday experience" spoiled by something that I'd surely pretty easy to get right.
Its Sat final whistle time now, what have people eaten or drank since 230pm?

I think Sodexo used to be responsible for the catering at the stadium but I think it's now done by Compass Catering, who now own everything at the Hospital! (Cafe, dining room, shop etc)

i had a chicken balti pie on tuesday..£3... you can buy em in a shop for £1.20...It was luke warm too...not hot... The standards down there are way below what they should be..the coffee tasted shite too...It just seems symptomatic of the clubs attitude to the fans...ok, i know it's KSDL that let the contract but we pay £750,000 a year for the facilites down there...(£32,500per game) you'd at least expect some decent nosh for the plebs...I'm sure the toffs get far better grub up in the exec areas...

This has been a hot topic at the ATT meetings recently and is absolutely being looked into. The company who deal with catering have been made aware that their standards aren't good enough. We'll hopefully see improvements soon. Exactly same has been said every 18 months for the last 15 years or so, don't hold your breath!

......bring back the old pork pie in a wicker basket fare from the old Leeds Road......now that was worth waiting for at half time, and about sixpence I recall. And if there was a long queue, as he was on the terrace you missed none of the action.

Don't talk so bloody saft lad. It's nowt to do with the club, catering was sorted prior to the return of the shares and even now it still takes a majority decision on the board for things like that. I understand the food is crap, take thesen a flask and some butties instead, don't criticise the club for that though just having a go for having a go's sake.

Things like this drives me nuts. Does anyone know how long the deal with these suppliers last?
Town want to increase gates, as do the Giants...
YET THEY CONTINUE TO SUPPLY SUBSTANDARD MATCHDAY SERVICES.
There is a famous quote about marketing that goes "50% of marketing is a total waste, I just don't know which half it is". Things like these leave nasty tastes in the mouths of fans and only helps to turn them away. This should have been sorted the first time it happened at the Mac, never mind twenty years late. It harms the match day experience.
Who cares if this supplier will pay a little more than an other one who will do the job properly and better, the money lost in turning away fans from the stadium will linger for longer. I'd imagine a lot of the food is for kids, so this lack of quality and efficiency is harming the experience for potential life Town fans. I also believe this is the case with programmes. I used to love collecting them when I went to the games as a kid and was certainly a reason why I became hooked on HTAFC; throw away paper programmes? Come on Town, have a look at the bigger picture rather than the small growth in profit per game from a lower unit cost.
Seriously, how hard is it to provide some beers and food at half time for two clubs worth millions?
Personally, I don't touch any of it but I understand others do, and the queues at HT have always been ridiculous. Why not self service apart from at the till?

I agree with your underlying point, however OF COURSE it's too do with the club and they should have an interest in getting it right. When we attend a Town match, we're customers of Hudds Town, we don't give a stuff who all the individual suppliers associated with delivering a match are. It's in their interest to improve and get the whole matchday experience moving in the right direction, as that's what makes individual punters more or less likely to turn up next week or not. If you buy a lightbulb at B&Q and its faulty, you take it up with B&Q, not Osram.

The fact is while Town have a 40% stake in KSDL they do have something in the order of 75% of the customers of the caterers I would say, and as such have the biggest interest in the quality of the product..I would think/hope. So they do have a say and do have a significant interest. So you are incorrect when you say "it's nowt to do with the club" , because it clearly has...

When I walked past the catering booth in the lower tier riverside on Tuesday night there was nobody buying even though there were a good number of people milling around. I heard the staff saying it was quiet however like others I have got into the habit of not buying as the food and drink is better in canalside.
