If you're not going to Ipswich our Academy host L666ds United today, 11am, at PPG Canalside. I know there's an Academy and Development thread for this, where I've posted too, but aside from the FA Youth Cup, this is the fixture of the season at this level so wanted as many as possible to see it I highly recommend the bacon teacakes available pre-match!!! www.htafc.com/fixtures-results/academyfixtures/

Never been to an academy game or canalside for that matter so just wondering what the crack is with these academy games? Do you have to pay to watch? Is there plenty of parking? How many normally turn up? I guess its all open to the elements standing?
TIA

Never been to an academy game or canalside for that matter so just wondering what the crack is with these academy games? Canalside is, according to Chris Powell, a very special place. He does not know of another club where the club/team/playing squad mix so freely with the fans and general public and likes this aspect of it. Come down and see for your self Do you have to pay to watch? No - Paul from the Promotions Department might try to sell you a £1 weekly 'On the move' draw ticket though!!!Is there plenty of parking? Loads.
How many normally turn up? Depends on the opposition/weather. 100 to 3/400I guess its all open to the elements standing? Yes; bring a brolly or get yourself down to Tog 24 for guaranteed comfort whatever the weather
TIA[/quote]

Our Galway Whites Supporters Club are over for the fixture v Wolves at ER in the afternoon, they are also taking in this fixture so there will be an Away Contingent most certainly of the friendly kind I hasten to add.

I'll be at Ipswich, but if I lived locally to Huddersfield I'd be down at Canalside every chance I could. I think it's a fantastic facility and it's become a big part of my day whenever I make a home game. I'm not much of a drinker, happy with just the one pint, so the decent home-made food and the Q&A's etc make it an enjoyable pre-match ritual for me now. Besides (according to my mother), my first ever steps as a toddler were taken on the bowling green in front of the entrance (my father was Secretary of the ICI Horticultural Society that held it's shows in the rec. club), so it's kind of prophetic that it's now owned by Town!

Maybe I will Tog...am sure anybody there would be most hospitable if I make myself known? Having been to many Academy matches, the only one where there's even been the slightest sense of any concern was the FA Youth Cup last year v Man Utd who now have a quite sizable group of disaffected anti Glazer fans who follow the Academy team. Ultimately, they had just had a couple too many on the train on the way over and were more interested in antagonising the mainly elderly stewards on duty!!! See you tomorrow Marsh.

Do we know if they'll be playing on the pitches over the canal, or if it'll be where the Development Squad teams play adjacent to the driveway? Just so I know what footwear to opt for
