As most on Datm are aware ,it is just over a year now since my Good Friend Steve Kelly also known as Fitzy Blue passed away suddenly.
Last year around Christmas the Inaugural Steve Kelly memorial football tournament was held at Wakefield Soccer Centre. The Second SK Memorial now has a date set and is in the process of being organised.
Kev(Steves Brother and one time apprentice at HTFC) and Andy Holdsworth(who put the ball in the Bastards net)have asked me to share this message with everyone in the hope you might like to get involved.
Hello everybody. Please share my brother's memorial football tournament details when you see the poster on Facebook. Still looking for teams and volunteer's to help make it a success. Referee's, people to help with administration, or just to serve drinks etc from the snack bar. I think we are looking at approximately 100 teams over the weekend of Sat 20th and Sunday 21st of December. If you can't give up your weekend, can you help out for a few hours? MARTIN HOUSE children's hospice are the main benefactor, but after the event discussions will be held to donate to other local charities too. I think it is accurate to say that we can expect well over 1000 to attend over the weekend. Any ideas to help would be appreciated, extra fund raising ideas welcome. I will be discussing with Andy Holdsworth the possibility of a veterans mini league to close the tournament, a team of ex pro's against a few different teams made up of players who have known Steve. Daz Pud Goodall, could you share this on Datm ? Yours in sport. KK
Any one wanting any more details, don't hesitate to get in touch.

A year already!
RIP Fitzy, still sadly missed. Especially the times when he couldn't grasp the technical side of computers. Never failed to make me laugh

God bless Fitzy, one of the funniest blokes I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Such a sad loss. Hope there are a lot of good little footballers and a lot of laughter at this tournament, a perfect way to remember him. RIP Fitzy

Does anyone know how he died - had he been ill? Sorry if that is an insensitive question, but I never did find out and he was after all, still a young man. RIP mate.

Grew close to Steve in his final years, playing for him at two different clubs and can't pay him a big enough complement as not only a fantastic football coach but a top bloke. As i am sure most of you who had the pleasure of knowing and meeting him, he could light up a room with his funny and warm personality. The service for him last year was a truly fitting send off with an overwhelming amount of friends, players and staff from town (including mark lillis i might add) paying their respects.
RIP Steve
