Booed at Leeds Road. Cheered/name sung at pretty much every away match?!!!!! Not the bravest but a wand of a left foot 'Those were the days my friend'

Oh come on!! you've never been to a Town match in that era if you haven't heard a "you're soft as s..t Cowling" and he was often booed if my memory serves me correctly.
He was my favourite player at the time.

We're in agreement with you Doc but he was never booed away, or at least I didn't ever hear it!!!

Cowling was quality. Created great goals. Scored vital goals. If Boothy had been born 15 years earlier he'd have had 250 goals feeding off Cowlings crosses. Be good to see and listen to a true legend of my time watching Town

All Cowling lacked was pace, but my favourite Town player of all times played on the right side of midfield in the Buxton the legendary Brian Stanton

Me neither. The best crosser of a ball I've ever seen for Town, bar none! He couldn't tackle a wet paper bag, but so what? That wasn't his game and so many Town fans just couldn't forgive him for it! A couple of seasons ago at a Q&A with Steve Kindon he said Cowling was a dream to play with, because you knew exactly what he could and couldn't do.

Dave Cowling - absolute town legend. The memory of his goal at Bellend Road, with the cross from Lillis will last till the grave. Never mind the Newport goal, the winner against Barnsley and every other telling moment in the blue and white stripes. Ridiculed by half his own fans (very similar to many on DATM recently). Loved by thousands!!!!!!!! Who put the ball in the Bastards net 'David Cowling Did'

He got some stick at time's did Dave Cowing and he scored some great goals. The one that has always stuck in my mind was his header that won us the game down at Exeter and sent hundreds of Town fan's wild. He nearly had his head taken off scoring that goal in a melee of player's and i think the score was 4-3 or 5-4 and if i remember rightly, it was the winning goal, what a team that was.

45 seconds of Paul Clark commentary.... it'd work well...if required? If the file doesn't play from my phone...its on a cd in my car...I'm sure Canalside can play it on their ghetto blaster

Quality old fashioned winger. As echoed by others, not the most industrious, but could land the ball on a sixpence when required.
