Alright chaps - thanks for skinning our left back alive a few weeks ago! We're obviously on the brink of signing Lee Clark as manager - any chance you can bob over to our forum - takes a couple of seconds to register (and you can come back on later in the season!) - and let us know your thoughts and what we can expect? Here's the link to the thread we've created but there's quite a lot of talk about him if you fancy a read. Good luck for the rest of the season. www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/blackpool/forum/129226/opposition-fans-thoughts-on-clark/#0

He splits opinion massively on here, we debate Lee Clark still almost every month on this forum.
His tenure at Town will always be looked upon fondly by myself, we'd been a bog standard league one side for years, Lee Clark came in around Christmas time and injected some spirit into the place. He was given a considerable amount of money here in his first full season and we played some brilliant attacking football, we would drub teams by 5,6 and 7 goals regularly. However lost out in the playoffs to Millwall, we didn't really have much of a game plan and looked scared.
Second season went well too, however our style changed and we went more defensive, went on an impressive unbeaten run, but in a lot of those games seemed to settled for a point rather then go for a win. Clark spent a lot of money again assembling a squad and would bring in a loan player almost every month with either success or complete failure. We did amass a huge number of points, which in the previous seven or something seasons would have seen us automatically promoted. We were pipped to the post by Saints in second place and went into the playoffs, Clark was still hugely popular amongst most Town fans going into the playoff final but it was a train wreck for Town. We lost 3-0, played one up front and left Rhodes on the bench! We deserved promotion this season but we fell apart in the last half hour of the final, many claim Clark was tactically out done again by his counter part. This was probably the beginning of the end for Lee Clark.
In his third season we again went about changing personnel and it was never really as exciting as the two previous campaigns, arguably a playoff hangover, but we went unbeaten up until November and lost to the league leaders Charlton. We then went about losing to most of our promotion rivals and Clark did lose the plot somewhat, their didn't look to be a Plan A never mind a Plan B! The pressure seemed to have gotten to him. He was axed with Town sat in the playoffs, but with three clearly better teams in the league then us that season. Funnily enough this was the season we ended up getting promotion, but a lot of that was down to Seff Utd imploding once Ched Evans was sent to prison.
He's passionate and will certainly give 100% to the job but he never quite got us over the line when it mattered and ultimately went abit crazy. Expect to see man mountain Peter Clarke handed the captains armband.

Much the same as when he went to Birmingham it looks a poor choice by both club & manager.

He must have used 80 players whilst at town. He was totally over indulged by the chairman.

Good man, but his touchline antics eventually began to spread fear amongst his players unit they became scared to express themselves. Nowt against the fella, hope he succeeds somewhere, but he'll need to replace half his passion with a bit more nous.

I actually believe history might view his time at Birmingham as him doing a decent job under almost impossible circumstances, by just keeping them up for two seasons. I hope he does well for you, but I can't imagine he'll keep you up.

The most important point to remember is that you don't get your Clarkes and Clarks mixed up.

If blackpool need a win to stay up last game of the season he'll leave your main goalscorer on the bench.

Bizarre choice by blackpool IMO. Can't understand why he keeps getting jobs so easily when hes been so consistantly unsuccessful as a manager.

Expect to see man mountain Peter Clarke handed the captains armband. I think that's a fair summary. In the last season he didn't really know what his best team was - and couldn't really explain why in his post match utterances. I thought his (the clubs) major mistake was over reliance on loan players. He got some good ones in but it effectively meant we had to rebuild the team, particularly in midfield, every season. Having said that - a loan player has turned us around this season!

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he keeps them up.
Underestimated by a lot of town fans imo.

Goes a bit nuts at the first sign of pressure. Cant see him keeping them up (though it'd be a big task for anyone).
Think its a bit of an odd choice for him tbh

Tell your local radio reporter not to ask any awkward questions.

Tell your local radio reporter not to ask any awkward questions. Or even questions that arent awkward such as enquiring when a player will be back from injury. Good chance he'll explode

I never did join the anti lee clark brigade, always like the fella! Yeah he got a bit touchy with the press but he did a good job for us! Including signing a player for peanuts that we got to flog for £8m. Like Colnevallyblue says we were just a bog standard 3rd division team before he turned up (I know he had cash).
Personally I think he's better than Blackpool, there a bascket case and I don't know many who would keep them up!

Bizarre choice by blackpool IMO. Can't understand why he keeps getting jobs so easily when hes been so consistantly unsuccessful as a manager. Was he unsuccessful at Brum? With the circus going on behind the scenes and the budget he was operating on, I think he did a pretty good job keeping them up for two seasons. I assume that's why Blackpool have gone for him.

underestimated by a lot of Town fans, massively overestimated by himself.
uses footballspeak as an ex player to cover up his and his players obvious failings. He always seems to believe that the fans just don't have a clue about what they just watched???

Great bloke for shhuuaaaaaaa , can lose the plot easily. Great passion. Not that good tactics. Left Jordan Rhodes on bench in the play off final, the rest is history. Hope he works a miracle .

After Jordan Rhodes I don't think he made one permanent signing that you could call a success and that was over two years before he left.
