Did Mirfield motors move further along Huddersfield road towards battyeford. MEL --- I can remember seeing a massive MIRFIELD MOTORS sign above the garage as you came from Battyeford towards the small bus station in Mirfield. Maybe the owner had two garages. What is the mentioned building, just past the railway pub being used for these days. Still a garage Sugy.

me - bottom left, with Colin Russell, Mally Brown, some bloke from Central Mirfield, and another kid (anybody?) whose Dad bought a car and won the same prize. By my reckoning, that shirt Mally Brown was in was about six years old (all blue shirt from 75ish). I know there wasn't the money floating about there is now, but still... Awww how cute. Love this. Thanks for sharing

Did the yellow Central Mirfield shirt ever go on sale. I cant remember back then if we sold away kits. Remember it been classic simple kit. And worn to victory at Elland Road a couple of times

Are the 600,000 people who were born in Crossley Maternity Hospital allowed to wear the shirt, given that they were born on the outside edge of MIrfield ? If so, I want one. Hang on here. I'm a Crossley Maternity Home baby, and in fact own a house on Robin Royd Lane. You telling me I was born in Bobtown, and am in fact not Mirf born and bred? That I should have laiked cricket for Liversedge rather than Mirf? My very world is under threat here Phil - I need clarity!! Have I lived a lie for 49 years???

I didn't say, outside of Mirfield, I said outside edge of Mirfield. It was someone upthread who misquoted me a bit. I laiked for both Liversedge and Mirfield U18s over a 3 year period. Anyway, relax, it wouldn't be the end of the world if you were born in Bobtown. I have it from reliable sources that it is, in fact, the true centre of the Universe.

Have to admit, I preferred Roberttown. I one over Mrs Smooth on our first date with a New Bismillah take away.

Has anybody got one of the Mirfield Motors yellow shirts as never saw them onsale

Forgive my ignorance, but why are we re-issuing this strip? Maybe because this was the first club sponsored shirt in 1982.

This is awful, but a real sign of the moral decline that we face in this Thatcherite era. Shirts being sponsored, capitalist clap trap! There's this bloke in Barnsley called Scarface or something like, that'll sort it all out. Any road I'm off for a few at t' navigation before I go for a special at Lower Hopton Fisheries. See you all at Chapel on Sunday. PS don't tell me father I drink.

And worn to victory at Elland Road a couple of times Good point, the first away strip I ever remember going on sale was the yellow Daihatsu, the red box style sponsors logo shirt. They did a Bukta yellow away shirt at that time but it wasn't exactly a replica - slightly different (cheaper) design and without the sponsor. I think the first real replica was the Daihatsu one with it written in blue the season before the red box style.

I kept my Diahatsu yellow away shirt with the red box logo. Nearly 30 years on, my youngest wears it all the time now, its his favourite bit of clothing at all, never mind just footie kits. He keeps getting middle aged blokes wanting to buy it off him! ( not in a Yew Tree way Im glad to say!) Bet no kids are wearing our current abhorrent abortion of a home kit 30 years from now, thats for sure!!
Not sure they ever sold the previous away one with Diahatsu written as a word across the front. The red box one might be the first replica away shirt we sold.

I can't remember if they did, the orginal home Daihatsu shirt had the words 'Daihatsu' in black across the front the shirt and these did go on sale to fans but I don't ever remember seeing a yellow on sale. After that the yellow Greenalls one with the white sponsors bar on was on sale along with the chequerboard effort, which is changing hands for some crazy money on ebay.

I had the home shirt with Daihatsu written as a word on it. When I moved up from junior Sunday to open age footy my team (either Stile Common or Berry Brow, I forget which) had bought both home and away Daihatsu logo kits from Town as they'd changed sponsors ( Greenhalls ?) Okay, I'm not going to beat about the bush again. The first away shirt on sale was a yellow Bukta but not exactly a replica (as still is the case, a botch job with no sponsor, poor badge and discrepancies from the actual shirt). The first genuine replica away was the yellow shirt with Daihatsu written in blue the season before the red box. I know as I owned them and only a house fire stops me provided the evidence.

I've still got a replica Daihatsu home strip from when I was 7 or 8. The sponsor's logo is red and velvety.
