No Alf Young? He had 9 caps for England!!! Even if only international players were considered, there would be some great names missing.

There's already plenty of criticism over the selected players on twitter, but let's not get carried away, this is some flags on the driveway at canalside, not a multimillion pound Mount Rushmore style creation on Dalton Bank. Anyway, the players have been chosen by the fans and the truth is that most of them will have little idea about the players from several generations back.

Seen a few people moaning about Clarke/Rhodes being named legends, but at the end of the day these are the big figures that the younger fans have seen playing over the last few years. Personally I like the 'legends' covering all generations so that they suit all fans. Rhodes is a slight stretch, but I see nothing wrong with Clarke being in there. He is the figurehead of the 'new era'. Just realised I've gone all galpharm2400 on the apostrophes there

Is there a Mount Rushmore style creation on Dalton Bank in the budget for next year?

It was always going to be swayed by younger fan votes who haven't seen plenty of players who deserve spots in there play or just don't understand the history of the club, which is why you get joke inclusions like Rhodes and Clarke. If they were going to treat it seriously and ensure actual 'legends' like Clem Stephenson and George Brown got the credit they deserve you'd have thought the 'legends' would have been picked by the club instead of putting it to a vote which was always going to provide some poor responses.

SIO.. its the way to 'go'... I think Town should have put Kwami Houdute in, just to keep the humour alive.. Imagine those visiting and walking down the line of "greats" and then !!!!! is going on here???

No George Brown, Tommy Wilson, Sammy Wadsworth Stephenson, metcalfe, Young, Alex Jackson... Theres no right or wrong list, but the fact that so many players who did it for Town at the top end of the top division and in cup finals (and for England/Scotland whilst here) aren't there, whilst lads who did well in the 3rd and 4th tiers is odd. Suppose it shows fans will vote for the legends theyve actually seen first and foremost.

If these are joke inclusions then why no mention of Jackson, M. Brown & Kindon who are on the list but played the majority of their time at Town in the lower leagues? Younger fans will only vote for the players that they remember, but for me Rhodes would always be in the line up. 87 goals in three years is an hell of an achievement at any level.

I'd argue Rhodes is deserving of his place, he got 40 goals in one season and basically dragged us to a playoff finish which got us promoted.

Ray Wilson looks a fair whack like a sepia image of Lee Clark there too.

Like I say, its a road to the training ground, not the Huddersfield Town museum.
There are some players who the older fans can reminisce about, and some of the younger ones can be reminded of their more recent heroes.
Rhodes and Clarke should both be included for me, one a fantastic servant to the club, and the other a player with special abilities, don't forget they were both involved in the unbeaten run, a record that could possibly stand for longer than some fans will live.

In all fairness I know myself that certain players from the past like Clem Stephenson and Vic Metcalfe probably contributed more than some of the players selected but these players are so remote to me and as I never saw them play I wouldn't have voted for them. I'm more likely to vote for Rhodes and Clarke than I would have Metcalfe and Stephenson despite the latter winning titles and a FA Cup.
It's like voting for the greatest Briton, I wasn't around in IK Brunel's day but I know he was great in a wider context than any Town player who lifted a title or an FA Cup.

Still think they'd have been better off choosing 2 from each decade.

They would have been better picking 24, you would have got all the main protagonists in then. Brown and Jackson missing are shocking omissions...Kindon in? I loved the guy but he only played about 70 lower league matches.
