Had a Cardiff mate went to this last night and told me this morning that Town were nothing short of excellent in comparison to a laboured Cardiff side. He said Town were slick in everything they did and some of the players looked well under 18 and just kids (not sure who played). I know we have said it before but it should all bode well. We just need to see some of these youngsters coming through. see comment below from Cardiff Forum about the game last night;
I was in Cardiff and thought I'd take my first look at our development side , as they have been doing so well this season I missed the first 20 minutes due to traffic , But from what I saw was a very slick , pacey , competent Huddersfield side who completely outplayed Cardiff , their passing and movement was excellent Cardiff's general play was laboured and not that convincing , with an alarming amount of poor technique resulting in lost possession far to often Cardiff scored a penalty against the run play and led at half time It took two howlers from our keeper to put Huddersfield in front , a lead they thoroughly deserved Cardiff made some substitutions and improved slightly and did manage finally to put some pressure on the Huddersfield defence with some goalmouth scrambles ........ But overall a very disappointing performance against an accomplished Huddersfield team that won nearly all of the 50/50 challenges On this game we lacked physical presence in both boxes especially against bigger/taller opponents and rarely troubled them I hope its just a one off poor performance , Kadeem Harris has been touted on this forum to step up to first team level ....... he got subbed tonight and could not have any complaints Sadly very few stand out players on view ....... namely ....... Oshilaja , Amondarain , O'Sullivan and sub Tutonda looks to have all the attributes to develop I noticed how animated the Huddersfield coach was and often bellowing instructions to his team ....... compared to our coaches , Nilton Terroso and Quintin Fortune who were very quiet on the night Maybe a bit harsh view on reflection , as the youngsters are learning the game , but it was similar to our senior players performance against Bournemouth Final score ....... Cardiff 1 Huddersfield 3

Another good performance brings an excellent away win........Town are a force to be reckoned with at this level and its been like this for the last few seasons well done to all concerned, it also helps having talented players like Hammill Lolley Billing and Holmes available and not involved in the first team

It'd be good if we could progress these lads as a whole team rather than just one every now and again. The excellent Barca team of a few years ago all progressed through the youth academy together and therefore had a lot of experience playing together as a team - added to their excellent individual skill of course. I'm not going to draw any comparisons however it would help massively if we could bring through batches of these youngsters so that they continue to play together and develop as a team, rather than just 1 or 2 every year and disjoint the whole setup.

Pike only just stepped up to U21 level - and scored twice. Don't want to put too much pressure on the lad so early, but it sounds like he's going to be immense!

Looked very good based on the highlights I've seen this season (obviously they don't show the bad moments too often). Scored some really good goals, and is surely only 16/17

Plenty of talent coming through and a lot of credit must go too the coaches and Ross Wilson who's scouting links have got us some theses lads. Very encouraging yet again that both the 21s and 18s sit top of their leagues. As somebody else pointed out very young 21s last night billing and tronstad seem to look good together in cm and of course Pyke up top and Hanson at right back who I believe are both 16 or 17 and let's not forget jake Charles who's yet to play this year or Danny Kane for the 18s. Things are looking good just need to see a steady trickle of them into the first team and jobs a good one!!

When these lads make the first team there's definitely gonna be a "Lads Army / don't tell them you're name Pike" flag

"with big centre back Joe Wright hitting the crossbar with a towering header before...."
I like the sound of a big centre half in the U21's - anybody seen him play? We have produced too many tiddlers in the past.

Saw Joe Wright play against Brentford a few month back... very good prospect. Was one of the best players on the pitch.

Nice bit of homework from the Bristol terrier. Thanks Sugy but It was just a passing comment this morning and a quick look on the Cardiff Forum. Most disappointing thing for me is I could have gone to the game myself as it's only a 40 min drive. I don't pay enough attention to the U 21 and U 18 fixtures as I just think they will all be against Northern teams. I will pay more attention from now on. Roll on Saturday.

We have produced too many tiddlers in the past. We have 3 big centre backs in the u21's. Wright, Wilkinson and Boyle (who captains the team)

Looks like Hammill's confidence is still there - can't wait to see him in the first team again.

That's one seriously crap keeper playing for Cardiff. Glad he wasn't on our side! Two howlers from him allowed us back into the game. Great win though!

Is it just me or was that an extremely harsh penalty decision?
