"Scotland were fantastic, had England on the ropes, three flukes are all England had to show for their nights work. Will killed them for pace up front with our top quality strikers, just dead unlucky. The crowd were brilliant, singing & chanting all night, stayed at the end to give a standing ovation". - oh - I thought I was Alan Brazil for a minute!

Oh and another thing - Should not "God save the Queen" be played as the National Anthem for both teams.

No, Jerusalem should be played for the English national anthem like it does in the Commonwealth. God Save the Queen should be saved for Royal public appearances and Great British events/sporting teams.

Let's hope that is the last we see of Downing. Far too many players ahead of him in my opinion.

Oh and another thing - Should not "God save the Queen" be played as the National Anthem for both teams. Or more to the point, shouldn't England have an solely ENGLISH national anthem, not the british one!? Totally outclassed them . the only poor point was that we didn't finish them off. We should have been out of sight at 4 or 5 nil by the time they scored. Not even our strongest side. Even our fans totally outsung theirs in their own midden. All in all a satisfactory night nonchalantly flicking the chips off their shoulders. There'll be some sour grapes taken with the fried marsbar for supper tonight.

Clyne = a million miles better than Johnson and Walker. Great performance tonight. The lad can defend can't he. First English right back with a bit of defensive ability since Gary Neville.

Clyne = a million miles better than Johnson and Walker. Great performance tonight. Much better than Chambers too! Been banging on about him about a year now. If he can maintain his form of the last 12 months that berth should be his for years to come. Proper right back.

What part of the chant 'Fuck the IRA' do the FA feel the need to apologise for?

Decent performance from England but we've got to take into account the opposition, Scotland were/are poor. Not really sure, given Scotland have nothing up front, how Rhodes is continually omitted from their squad. Even Stevie May is ahead of him. Remarkable scenes.

Thought Clyne was very good after the first fifteen when he looked very dodgy. Big praise to James Milner - thought he was excellent throughout. Not the most talented player for club nor country, but he gets through a lot of work and was very effective last night. We were much better last night than the last game I saw, but still too much wayward passing on the break. We could easily have had 5 or 6 with a bit more care and there's the basis of a good counter-attacking side there, if we can learn to be cleverer in possession. The third goal was absolute class - one of the best-worked team goals I've seen in a long time.

Clyne was crap against Slovenia. Absolutely no improvement on others for the same position. I'll let him off as it was his first game. Didn't see Scotland game

Not really sure, given Scotland have nothing up front, how Rhodes is continually omitted from their squad. Same reason Clarkey left him out at Old Trafford. Most managers don't think he can play the one up front role required at International and Prem level. Interesting that at Blackburn he has now got a big strike partner but seems to be going through a bit of a drought. Someone just needs to take a risk on him at a higher level - but he didn't help his career by taking the money move to Blackburn.

If you could hear it on the TV commentary then we were singing it loud enough. Really great atmosphere created by the England fans last night. Best England away game I've been to.

I was at the pictures trying to hear what they were saying on 'Interstellar'?? could probably have done with some footie fans chanting the words... thankfully most of the dialogue was American tearjerker bollox so it does not spoil what is a right good watch, mostly..

3 Pipe. I know you have some sort of man crush on Clyne but this is a bit embarrassing. In reference to your points.
I was sat 12 rows from the front at Wembley
Slovenia had virtually zero wing threat
Clyne was caught out in the first few minutes and we should have been 0-1 down for it
A 6/10 rating hardly proves a point does it.
Having more touches of the ball than anyone else doesn't really mean much when you've got no one near you and you have no attacking threat. Ask Mark Robins
Maybe crap was a bit harsh and to be honest in the first half in particular his team mates weren't any better but I didn't see anymore from him than I've seen from Johnson based on this evidence.
Hopefully he'll grow into the role and I missed any chance to pass judgement on last night

Clyne had a good game last night. Against a very very average Scotland side. None the less he still played well.

Yeah , it's a bizarre man-crush 3 pipes got on Clyne. I mean he's ok, but he's no Anthony Gerrard.
