Chris Powell hinted last night that this fixture is probably going to change from Sun 28th Dec to either Mon 29th or Tues 30th. Clubs have been given the go ahead from the Football League to do this. It will allow clubs more of a rest period after the Rotherham game.

best they stop bloody hinting and get on and change it now..some people have lives and require to organise said lives..as most work harder and much much longer than footballers we should get good warning of fixture changes so we can 'work' out our lives to accommodate said change..
don't you just get so pissed off with footballers/managers etc, different frigging world they live in..

But make it harder for the fans who have to work? I assume they mean it will be changed to a night kick off? I'm not working over Christmas but some people will be. I'm a fan of night games but attendances are down and the atmosphere is gash, even worse than normal. The ridiculous amount of international breaks isn't helping either, meaning more fixtures moved onto a Tuesday night.

Hope it stays on the Sunday. Got a right Sunday session crowd lined up for it.

This is the only home game between 20th December & 10th January (if we get drawn away in the FA Cup). Also for players needing a rest Rotherham & back on Boxing Day is not exactly far. I feel if we play Sunday, only home game over Christmas, reasonably attractive fixture, probably full away contingent we could get 18,000 (*perhaps even more) - Monday or Tuesday night say 14,000. So not only would be lose a big chunk of income we would miss out on people who may come down if the Christmas figure was at a good time & perhaps come again. Also do the club (or other clubs for that matter) not realise that a lot of people will already have made arrangements for that day. Good job this is football we are talking about & not a business that values its income streams & has to put the customer first to be successful.

Can Grant Holt still play the other dates or does his loan period end on the 28th?

I don't get it.
As long as BOTH teams play on Boxing Day, with limited travel, then surely it makes no difference what day it's played on, as any perceived weakness we might suffer from will be matched by an equal weakness in Boltons team?
Bolton have a tougher, probably more draining game than us on the 26th vs Blackburn, I say we should play them as soon as possible.

the saying 'its a mans game' has got lost in the mists of time, overtaken by shitty 'footballspeak' about recovery times and such bollox as that..the top midfielders in the premier league average just under 7 miles in a game.. in an hour and a half with a fifteen minute break in the middle.. that's 3 and half miles in 45 minutes and then a good rest.. nobody is fooled by this footballspeak anymore are they?

If this is changed now it shows a complete lack of respect to the fans who have planned around this fixture since June. If it's changed then it further highlights that football isn't for the fans any more.

I am sure a "family club" such as ours will listen to the views of the punters & leave things as they are!

Observed you on DATM for a while Otium, certainly you give the impression of having an interesting persona which I am all in favour of. More than meets the eye..... Based on your multifarious stories of "Dare, Dream, Do" is your user named based on the word "Otium" a Latin abstract term which has a variety of meanings, including leisure time in which a person can enjoy eating, playing, resting, contemplation and academic endeavours? Just interested........ Not stalking ?

There are however other, more derogatory words that might describe a person who spends most of their time eating, playing, resting, contemplation and on academic endeavour!

Daddy, nothing heroic ? I had a Saturday job with my brother-in-law at I think Victoria Mills in Lockwood. I was about 16 and left in charge of the spinning mule as I had been done many times before. No elf and safety in those days ! Somehow left my middle finger dangling near the quadrant arm feeder sprocket and it was gone! Just as if attacked by a small shark. Got around £1000.00 in compensation - lot of money in the late 60's though

Once got my hand stuck in the tape section of a 3M card as well, no major damage but it was pretty scary watching my hand disappear round the back of a tape roller towards the rubbers. You're right though Daddy, its sad to see the demise of the textile industry. It helped build Huddersfield, and many more towns around the area.

fair enough,,,BUT they have had since june to decide this so fans could make arrangements to suit CP said the FL had only just given clubs the authority to change the dates of the fixtures (perhaps to do with the TV deal and not clashing with fixtures on't box). As a manager, he will probably want his team not to play Fri-Sun and whilst it's the same for both Bolton and us, potentially it might mean the lads are in better shape to visit Old Trafford in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on the first w/e in Jan NB The Premier League have fixtures on New Years Day but the Championship doesn't? So the top flight teams will play Thursday/Saturday, unless most of the FA Cup 3rd round is to be played on the Sunday? Answers on a postcard.............
