Have to admit I bemoaned our lack of luck earlier in the season (eg Charlton) but that looked a nailed on pen - Lino had a clear view also so lucky twice
Lynch got nothing of the ball and caught the man. Even Powell was smiling about the decision in his post match comments

Town had two stonewall penalty shouts turned down against Fulham ,and it all seems to balance itself out throughout the season.

Never been a believer in that old chestnut myself. 2 to 1 on your quote alone, then there was the stonewaller v Charlton - 3 to 1 against Town. I think no matter who you support you'll feel decisions go against you more than in your favour, that's human nature, but there's no doubt in my mind Town get done over by referees more than any other club I know. Maybe because they're the only team I care about, granted I think there's a bit of that, but over the years I think we've had the short end of the stick more often than the long end.

Shut up pipe smoker This is just about the tackle, can't be arsed reading all the reef one After post number 3 it is a thread about the tackle you jeb end. You started a new thread because you couldn't be arsed to read 3 posts? Nick, you're a walking facepalm mate. And I don't smoke pipes, Sherlock Holmes did, (3 of them for a particularly fiendish enigma).

ref didn't give it because the ball had almost crossed the dead ball line before the lad 'went flying'... knock it too far and then 'look' for the challenge??? maybe...
sensible refffing?? possibly and about time.. sick of seeing penalties or free kicks given to players who have made a balls of it and then take the 'option' of going over, long after their chances of getting the ball have gone..
some you get, some you don't. The Vaughan 'incident' will live long in my 'we got done' memories...

If he got his clearance up the line right he does not make that challenge.
A great & brave decision by the ref.

Was a penalty but was also a dive at the same time, lucky for us the ref saw the dive not the missed tackle.
Surprised nobody has mentioned the 2 yellows, no red that the Wendies got away with against us a couple of years ago as balance / karma ?
Also another example from Lynch who has been playing very well lately but keeps coming up with a match losing error, not only his penalty but when he lost possession on halfway and stayed down injured - Grant Holt went apeshit with him for not getting up and back to defend.

Stone wall pen.We knew it CP knew it but thankfully for us Ref was extremely charitable. If McGuire han't started to fall so soon and so dramatically a point lost would have been fair but how many times has it been other way round.

how hard a job do the officials have tho. I thought it was a penalty but maybe the lino found a bit of sympathy for us after pikeyblowjob kept bullrushing our keeper.

The Vaughan 'incident' will live long in my 'we got done' memories... I agree with most of the above. Salisbury made a brave call - far easier to give the penalty but Wednesday forward looked to me to leave both legs trailing looking for the contact, which there undoubtedly was, but he was already on the way down/in mid air when the contact was made. Viewing it with the benefit of several slow motion replays we can come up with many different reasons of the awarding of a penalty or, as in this case, not. Salisbury could have given either decision, and arguably been correct whichever he chose.

I played for a long time, I know whats in the mind of other players. I can see them taking a dive or falling over when its clear they cannot get onto the ball. Im not sure I can remember too many players diving instead of running on and trying to score?? its happening much more frequently, any touch etc, down they go. Shearer would elbow you and go on and score.. The palace lad on sunday opted to try and get someone sent off rather than going on and shooting?? bit sad imo...

As did Bunn the week before (and a couple of times before that). I played a lot - but in the pre-diving era! Can't really remember anyone diving - we would have taken the piss out of them so much.

The first dive I can remember in a big game in English football was in a FA Cup semi final by Kenny Hibbit of Wolves at this time, I considered diving being a foreign thing. Oh just remembered that cheating so and so of Preston who dived at the end of ectra time in the 38 cup final AND it was outside the box too... bleedin Refs

there is diving when you don't have much chance of scoring and going over for nothing when you clearly have..the lad on Saturday pushed it way to far to get on it and chose to have a dive.. the palace lad was through on goal??? there is a difference and shouldn't the 'professional' in them come to the fore as 'easily' as it does when they go down for nothing when they know they cant score or get the ball??? or is the term professional only used when they have cheated/made use of the silly rules? I would like to have a fight with Vertongen at spurs, what a soft shite he is proving to be.. tomkinson loses a fight he started with a very small police woman and then goes on to fall over when the wind changes in front of a tv audience. As carragher said on sunday, its difficult to argue it being a mans game anymore..

As carragher said on sunday, its difficult to argue it being a mans game anymore.. I thought he would have got to the ball to cut it back on Saturday - it was never going to be a clear goal scoring chance. That's why I couldn't believe Lynch lunged in with the wrong foot. If he had stayed on his feet probably the worst we would have seen was a corner to them. Spurs have no backbone at all.
