I don't go in the North Stand personally but I admire the effort the NSL have put in to improve the atmosphere at the ground, I can only see this as a good thing so keep up the good work.

Don't think it'll create the same vibe being so high/distant from the pitch, personally. Part of what makes the experienced so good, especially in the second half, is the closeness to the action. Didn't it used to be up there anyway - I recall the drummer being up there, at least? And anyway Frankiesleftpeg, you leave us in the Family Stand alone - we join in more chanting than you you lot in The Misery Stand!! Sorry, The Kilner Bank. There's a plan being hatched for one or two of the lower tier to infiltrate the upper tier at an upcoming game. The north stand loyal doesn't have to be focused solely on the lower tier, or the whole stand for that matter. Good to hear that it's being enjoyed up there as well though.

This is what quite a few fans have seen happening .I went in the NSL last Saturday for the experience and with the stance to look up at the top tier. They were getting involved and this is really where input could be vital to making the NS truly a home stand.
I'll be back in the Kilner next match cos I still like my football from the side but keep it up and your efforts will be rewarded.UTT and the NSL.

Sounds serious, are we getting the A Team in to do this?? If the upper and lower North Stand were joined up in terms of atmosphere that would make a big difference. One thing I think people are doing though is using nostalgia to forget the past. Leeds Road was often dull and quiet with 4,000 odd of us in the cold watching Tim Clarke and co put on a master class! The Cowshed was always lively but like with any singing section when you get them all together its louder, plus the lower roof helps in that regard. Atmosphere can be fantastic at the JSS when we want it to be. Just look at the Barnsley game or the Bournemouth semi final where the stadium was defeaning. The truth is at home the fans react to whats going on on the pitch, so when its going well the volume goes up. Away fans are always a bit more up for making noise (that applies to every club in the country) as its a bit of a jolly so people's mindset is different. Anything that can improve the experience is obviously a good thing but I think if we stopped infighting on this and put that energy into supporting the club then it would improve. Saying that as football fans we are grumpy sods who like to moan!!!

Why should they give up? They're making an effort, which is more than can be said for the thousands who sit for the full match unless we score a goal or they need a piss.

We don't need a roof because we're from the West Riding.

What's all this about needing a roof to generate an atmosphere? Pompey fans got voted the best fans in the country afew years ago with chunks of fratton park open to the elements. What about pre modern stadia? Was the atmosphere so poor in the 70's & 80's when lots of stands were open air? No they just made more noise than the modern day fan.
As for the OP, don't know what your issue is? Not sure what stand you sit in but you need to make more effort in there instead of criticising fans who are being proactive in helping make a better atmosphere & a better match day experience for everyone. Threads like this just come across as bitter & if it's not your cup of tea then fair enough, but don't disrespect the people who have put so much time & effort into getting this off the ground by slating it at every opportunity! Let's not forget it's grown from 200 hardy souls against Charlton last season to 800 average & imo will just keep growing, so you may aswell just get used to it.. We're all town fans arn't we? It's just that some decide they enjoy it behind the goal, so what's the problem?

Measure of success for me is being stood with like minded folk blowing positive energy on the pitch! Not sure what people were expecting from it!? I've been in there for 6 seasons before and it was utter gash. It's much better now. Even better if we win the odd game or 2! I walk out of there feeling I've been to a game and blown away the weeks works frustrations! Happy kosi.

Forget the roof, just get a hat-o-roof. It even has a bucket on the back so the bloke behind you can have a piss without leaving the stand and missing some of the action. We'll have them on sale on the NSL website tomorrow.
