To be able to sell someone has to buy .

I don't think that there is anything new here, but I can't tell because I can't find the comments. I think that we were discussing this a couple of years ago.

He's said the same thing publicly many times. I bet he'd love to be able to go for a few drinks before the game, then walk along Leeds road with his mates and take his seat in the Kilner or come and join in with a song or two in the NSL. If I had his money, I'm not sure if do want to be owner if the club to be honest.

Dean is realistic enough to realise he cannot and will not try to compete against the oil baron football owners of this world and he will not put the future of Town on the line by gambling and losing/falling short - we've been there before and have not really fully recovered yet. He has always said he would not stand in the way if there was somebody else who could be a better owner for Town than himself. This would always be in his opinion of course. I have told him many times I do not see a large queue of such people!! And tbh, I never want a foreign owner who doesn't really care about our club - I'm really happy with a local bloke (one of us if you like) giving it his best shot and trying to do it 'the right way.' This is already pretty much as good as it's ever been at Town in my nearly 40 years watching. And who knows what we might achieve if some of our undoubted talent progresses out of the youth ranks? Additionally, for me it's not just the taking on of the custodianship of our club, as Dean sees it, but the way he's done it. Or should I say the way Dean and Janet and their boys have done it - throwing themselves totally into it YAA, Foundation, KIU, cycling the nation 5 times etc etc. I agree with Mel but I'll go a stage further - I know I wouldn't want to own Town! and you probably wouldn't want me to either

I completely agree - supporting the club and enjoying match day would be completely different if you are the owner of the club! It's hardly going to be getting drunk and having a sing song and a bit of match day banter for him is it? More a sense of responsibility if they play poor, lose or any player/staff member isn't pulling their weight. I would hate it. suicide

Maybe nothing new in terms of what he's said as I'm sure he's said it in meetings, just thought it was interesting that it's gone so public and the comments it's all or nothing..just made me wonder has an investor been sniffing about the club

For me Dean is doing a wonderful job and long may he continue. When he does eventually leave we may be wishing we had him back as I cant think of any better chairman in my lifetime.

Dean was the post match guest (along with the Right Honourable Roy Hattersley, former Sheffield MP for you young 'uns!!!)and that handsome chap who hosts the WRC asked Dean if 6 years on he regretted 'getting involved' in Town. He jokingly replied 'every day!!' before reassuring everybody he was still 100% enjoying it despite it been challenging etc And Dean followed up by adding he would never stand in the way of somebody he felt in a better position to take Town forward but would only sell up as co-investors weren't for him. The handsome chap replied that the vast majority of Town fans hoped Dean was going nowhere and loved that a fan was the owner and there was not a large queue to take over the Thrice Champions

Everybody is always open to (ridiculous) offers and you cannot prevent offers anyhow. Just in case there was any doubt, HTAFC is not the most marketable FC about and I wouldn't like to be charged with finding a buyer at any price!

I think my point was tog, that whilst (as you rightly say) everybody is always open to offers, I would imagine he would always have half an eye on actively looking to get out also. And again, as you say, he'll have found a dearth of credible suitors to his particular liking. I would suggest he's a bit stuck at the moment.

Shame he`s not prepared to share the burden with a fellow investor but that`s his choice.

To be able to sell someone has to buy . This. Unless you were a town fan with too much money, would you want to buy a mid table championship side with less than 12,000 attending fans ? Add to that we don't own all our own stadium and the probable cost of getting us into the premier league, we don't look like a good risk to me. Happily I think Deano will be with us for a good while longer.

Shame he`s not prepared to share the burden with a fellow investor but that`s his choice. The aim is to mitigate & eventually hopefully (somehow!) eliminate the burden & be sustainable. I don't think that bringing somebody in to simply share the burden is the right path forward for any party. Not that this is any new news anyway.

Don't think he's looking to get out at all so he's not stuck. Think the fact that (PPG!!!) Canalside is effectively Dean and his families (£5 million or so, so far) gift to Town must prove that recouping cash from any future sale of Town is not his main aim.

I suspect he's been looking to 'get out' for a while now to be fair. I can assure you, he hasn't. His comments are spot on its getting harder each season and he is correct to say a club losing two to three million a year competing a gainst clubs that are prepared to lose 6 times more is a risk he will not take both personelly and for the club. its hard to keep in the championship we all need to get real and make sure we stay up. if a investor wants to come in and take over for the right reasons then it will be up to dean.

I'm not suggesting he would ever want to re-coup cash! Far from it. Isn't Canalside his (and never to be sold to a new owner) so that we can never be without facilities and be ripped off again? Amazing generosity! I'm saying that he does want the best for Huddersfield Town, though. He knows he's not rich enough to get us up into the promised land and be able to stay there. I think he would get out tomorrow if he found a far richer buyer who had Town at heart. In the meantime, he's concentrating on us surviving, maybe progressing in inches and perhaps losing a few quid as we go. Whether he's actively looking to get out or not... he'd take the sale to the right man, if the opportunity presented itself, IMO.
