truly one of those massive contradictions, would be an absolute joy to be in a position to do so, but, what a heavy responsibility and burden to take on your shoulders. Dean is realistic enough to realise he cannot and will not try to compete against the oil baron football owners of this world and he will not put the future of Town on the line by gambling and losing/falling short - we've been there before and have not really fully recovered yet. He has always said he would not stand in the way if there was somebody else who could be a better owner for Town than himself. This would always be in his opinion of course. I have told him many times I do not see a large queue of such people!! And tbh, I never want a foreign owner who doesn't really care about our club - I'm really happy with a local bloke (one of us if you like) giving it his best shot and trying to do it 'the right way.' This is already pretty much as good as it's ever been at Town in my nearly 40 years watching. And who knows what we might achieve if some of our undoubted talent progresses out of the youth ranks? Additionally, for me it's not just the taking on of the custodianship of our club, as Dean sees it, but the way he's done it. Or should I say the way Dean and Janet and their boys have done it - throwing themselves totally into it YAA, Foundation, KIU, cycling the nation 5 times etc etc. I agree with Mel but I'll go a stage further - I know I wouldn't want to own Town! and you probably wouldn't want me to either Good call Paul...See you on Monday evening to watch you do what you do best

I can assure you, he hasn't. It's a fine line between 'looking to get out' and 'open to offers'. I suspect he's been the latter for quite a while. The last time I spoke to him, he said that if he ever sold up, he would only sell to someone who had HTFC in their heart, but he had no intention of selling up any time soon. That was a couple of months ago.

as Dean hasn't punched a footballer in the mouth, as yet, I raise my hat to him. The desire to do so at times must be very, very strong.
Said before, dealing on a day to day basis with SOME of these 'professionals' must be enough to grow hair on a rock...
He must meditate or do yoga or something, id have been locked up within 6 months of taking over.

Not really a story here at all. The examiner asked him the question and he gave the answer- yeah , if someone more able to take the club forward stepped up and it was right for the club, hed pass it on. id imagine hed have give the same answer a week after taking over.

Not as wealthy as Dean, unless one has made some very good and the other very poor investments since selling their businesses - Graham got US$86 million for Galpharm.

I think that by making that statement Dean has basically said, yes...the club is up for sale. ...to the right bidder (obviously).
He could have said no, he isn't ready to sell yet...but he didn't..so the message will be out there now that he's open to offers. I think that is a worrying statement because theoreticaly a guy could come in tomorrow and offer Dean a deal, lay out acceptable proposals for the club and be the new owner by next season. It's similar in a way to a player making the statement that he's open to offers from other clubs, or the club are open to offers for one of our players...it opens the door to change.
I trust Dean to look after the clubs interests, and the key I suppose is that he's in no rush to sell so he can be very selective in looking at any offers, ensuring they meet his criteria...rather than a rush to sell and with no regard to the new potential owner.
Nevertheless, that doesn't mean it couldn't all happen within the next few months.

Alot of people don't seem to realise that Mr Hoyles business brain plays as much a part as his wealth, but he is a businessman first and town fan second. Any such sale of the club must suit him and the club ,otherwise Town could easily end back up in shit street if in the wrong hands. It and makes me wonder as to how wealthy you need to be to be to take over the running of the club, especially when taking into consideration the clubs 30+ million net debt, and abiding to the fair play rules. Having such wealth gives you the added option of exploring new beginings ,and we need to show our appreciation to the Hoyle family for all their patience in this matter.

Your car may not be listed in AutoTrader, but if someone came along and offered you £500,000 for it, you'd almost certainly sell. Hoyle's a fan first and foremost, so I trust that any sale would have to be for the benefit of HTAFC. I'd also be amazed if there is a better owner for our club out there.

Very rarely does an owner stay an owner for 20 years plus. It's much more common for an owner to buy in twice.
Hoyle may go, but rest assured that if the time came that Town needed a saviour, Deano would never be far away.
Total legend.

Well not exactly, in your analogy Dean has actually placed the advert now by saying what he has... As regards to hand picking the right owner for HTAFC, unless there are certain covenants in place the new owner, once in place, would pretty much be able to do as he pleased...you can't sell the car then tell the new owner not to drive over 30mph...or tell them they can't sell it on to whoever they wish to...

I don't think so, he said he's not looking to sell, but if someone came along who could do a better job than him, he'd talk. That's always been the case. Clearly it'll be a gamble when Hoyle does sell up - the new owner may say all the right things and then do the total opposite when he's in charge. However, if Cellino, or someone if his ilk, wanted to buy the club, I'd like to think they'll be sent packing.

Must have been a slow week for news on the HTFC front.
There was nothing new in that article at all - the "I'll leave....." has been said on several occaisions before now, including his little rant at the start of this season. Before that there was a very large interview he did with Radio L33ds a season or two before when he explained what had happened with Jordan Rhodes and how the monies from his transfer would bring stability to the club over the next few seasons.

Leslie was a multi millionaire before he sold his company though,he would of got involved with town before dean did if it wasn't for the shares issue.not saying hes richer or poorer than dean but hes worth a lot more than 86 million whether that's us or sterling.

Writing has been on the wall for some time regarding DH. The man got stiffed with having to purchase the shares back he also paid the same guy a lot of money to get hold of the club even though the last owner did not want the football club. Shame really but who will buy into HTFC?

Shame really but who will buy into HTFC? Don't understand how any of that means the writing is on the wall for Dean Hoyle being our owner. He knew the club didn't own the shares and that davy wasn't going to just hand them back for free when he took over. And obviously Davy didn't want the club or he wouldn't have sold it. DH will move on when a) he stops enjoying it ,or b) someone steps forward who he thinks will be better for the club than he can be. I"m not expecting either to happen any time soon myself, but you never know.
