As some of you may or may not know, a few of us in the NSL have chipped in a few quid to sponsor Grant Holt during his loan period. One of the benefits of the brief sponsorship package is that we will receive a signed Grant Holt shirt, not only that but we will be presented with the shirt by the man himself prior to the last game of Grants loan spell, against Bolton on the 28th of December. Well when I say 'we' - I actually mean you, because we have decided to auction off the shirt along with the presentation, pitchside at the JSS.
All the funds raised will go to the Martin House Hospice in Leeds, an organisation which relies entirely on donations to meet its operating costs, and yet provides an invaluable service to children with life limiting conditions. They also provided some terrific support for one of our own in recent tragic times.
So, all you have to do is make a bid, and you'll get the chance to beg Holty to stay as well as a signed shirt from the man himself.

We've started the bidding off at £40, more or less the same price as home shirt, but this has to be worth a lot more than that. I might even place a cheeky bid myself.

Any of our resident computer artists going to change Barbies' strip to a Town strip and the German flag to an NSL flag on her avatar?

Can I make a suggestion ? Only a limited number of people can afford to bid a couple of hundred quid or so, why not raffle it at say £2 a ticket, everybody can afford a punt and the total should be more than a one off high bid ?

We considered that but it's a lot more hassle for us to organise than an eBay auction. Perhaps next time though!

We did consider that, but we only have a limited time in which to organise the sale of the shirt, plus the logistics of sending out raffle tickets is a bit of a nightmare. I've spent enough time in the post office this year as it is.

Think Holty would be more worried about 30 stone terrier or Galpharmer winning that shirt than Barbieterrier winning it. Especially if Galpharmer still has Ebola

I thought I'd just post a few details about Martin House for those who aren't familiar with their work.
Martin house is a children's hospice that costs £300k a month to run and unfortunately in this 'great' country of ours, it requires charity money to help fund it's great work. They look after the very sick and disabled children who need such dedicated care but also, to which I didn't know, they take care of children who have fallen asleep... It sounds a bit strange at first but when my son passed, they gave him his own chilled bedroom with a lovely view and garden giving us a nice place to visit him. Every morning the nurses would open his curtains, talk to him and keep him looking presentable, then at night they would close his curtains and read him a bed time story. It's small stuff but makes a big differance, it's a great place run by great people. I hope this gives a little insight into the work they do, Martin House genuinely is a great place run by gods and saints.
