Powell said he will be busy in the January transfer window, think we have a fair idea who will be leaving ( Ward, Gobern, Paterson, Stead and Gerrard) but who do you think will be coming in?

We are attempting to coax Kevin Phillips away from the touchline, looking at an aged midfielder who will split opinion (not defences), nailed on to sign a none-nondescript Dutch player who may also be from Scandinavia and destined to show a distinct lack of ambition.
There, that should save at least 20 pages.....

Honestly, I'll be pretty surprised if Gobern leaves. What has he done that would make anyone want to buy him?

Good point, but when Clark was at Birmingham there was talk about him wanting Gobern so maybe if Blackpool give him some money in January he could bring him in permanently or on loan.

Can see ward and Gobern going to Blackpool for 150k Seems a bit cheap in my opinion, Hoyle said Gobern would leave if the right offer was made, and what would that offer be? and cant see Ward leaving on a free.

I'd sell him for a packet of crisps, truly awful player! An absolute waste of wage, stealing a living!

Dean using the phrase 'right offer' is possibly ownerspeak.. probably means 'any offer'...

Gobern was dropped by Bobbins after his best game for us (QPR at home) which can hardly have done his confidence any good. That to me is more of a case of bad man management. Gobern hasn't played much over the past twelve months but when he has, he's been nowhere near as bad as some make out!

Scannell was our best player against Leicester at home last season in my opinion and he got dropped the next game against Watford away. Couldn't of done his confidence any good either but it seems like more people are happy under Powell.

I expect at least one signing to have a Charlton or ex-Charlton connection.
If Town were interested in more young lower-league talent at this time then I've previously suggested Ryan Woods of Shrewsbury and Matt Grimes and Tom Nichols of Exeter City, and I know for a fact that Town are well aware of all three.
Apart from that, I haven't a clue!
Outgoings are easier to predict......could be a lengthy list and most of us can name the likely candidates.......Stead, Paterson, Gobern, Ward (possibly), Gerrard (probably), Hammill (very unlikely IMO), Crooks, Sinnott, Carr, Carroll, Duane Holmes (unlikely?), Peltier (probably), Majewski (return to Forest?).........that's 13 players. Some may be permanent, but I think most will be long-term loan with a view to signing in the summer.

I'd say Gerrard is a definite.

Wow, coincidence or what? I've made no secret that I like Exeter City and that I've seen them twice recently, so I go on their forum occasionally and came across this: www.exeweb.com/forums/showthread.php?55474-%A31m-for-Grimes/page2Note mention by a poster of a Town scout being at the Accrington v Exeter game. I was at that game too, but I'm no scout, honest, although I can spot talent. About ten years ago I told Peter Jackson about this young lad at Aldershot Town called Aaron McLean who went on to do good things at Posh et al. Town could have had him for probably £20k then, but nothing happened. It does support my comment above though that Town are monitoring things.

I'd say Gerrard is a definite. Todays press conference Powell on Anthony Gerrard: "He hadn't been fit since the summer but he has worked hard to get himself up to speed.
"There was talk about a loan but he is someone I can use and he knows this level.
"Mark Hudson and Joel Lynch formed a good partnership and Murray Wallace was waiting patiently so he has had to bide his time.
"I thought one or two might look towards the end of the loan window but it didn't transpire and that is quite a good thing."

Even if we give him away free we will be saving money on his wages.

Either that, or we loan him to them, for the remainder of his contract, with the same end result? If he doesn't want to go anywhere and is happy to play for the Development squad then there's nowt we can do. Can't see why he'd want to do that if he could be getting a proper game somewhere.

I think we should just pay oscars contract up and just let him go tbh! I think the lad will struggle to find a club!

If a club sells a player without him asking for a transfer, he gets a payoff, right? Plus he'd have to find a club willing to offer him a contract he was interested in signing. Not as easy as you make it out to be, I fear.

Micheal Morrison is a potential signing from Charlton - Currently on loan at Birmingham who's form has turned around since he was signed.
Captain under Powell at Charlton and still only 26.

Hope not he isn't better than anything we currently have in my opinion!!! I'd put birminghams turn around more down to rowett who's a good young manager in my opinion.

If 13 go I would hope for 8 in made up of 4 with Championship experience and 4 with the potential to be so. In reality it may be 7 or 8 out with 4 or 5 incomings.
