They will have to pay 10M+ for Rhodes who is an unproven goal scorer in the top division. I believe that he would score in Spain but don't think he would move abroad.

The chance to work with David moyes is tempting enough!

Likes of Palace, Hull, QPR, Swansea if bony goes will be in for a goalscorer in January. Rhodes form has not been great for a while now.

They might rather have Gestede.

Does that spell the end for Finnbogason? That guy is destined to be a star, if not at Sociedad, then elsewhere.

I'd be surprised if they could afford him especially his wages. They might still have money left over from selling Bravo and Griezmann in the summer but I doubt they'd be paying him £40-50k a week. Should be playing in a top league in my opinion though.

With posted €24m profit for 2013/14 season and forecast €35m for this season, OF COURSE they can afford him.
His sale would also mean Blackburn get their transfer embargo lifted in summer... and assumedly they'll already meet the new £13m allowable loss limit for next season (and his wage off the books would help that).
Plus, he gets to play in blue and white stripes again.

I think he would be well suited to Spanish football, and that he is a smart enough lad to adapt to a foreign culture - the language and all that. I reckon it would be a good move for him, especially working with David Moyes, and in the best football league in the world, technically speaking.

If they had loads of money they'd have spent it in the summer there's no way they'll suddenly spend around £12m on one player.

Valencia spent €15m on a player in the summer, and Finnbogason was €8m.

A team that has made massive profits in the transfer market and Champions League football (despite the failure on the pitch in that competition) over the last couple of years perhaps, that is going through a bit of transition and expects to be competing for (if not attaining) a Europa League place in next years La Lira campaign. Its a good well ran club (with a decent vein of British influence running through it via Goshawk, Coleman and now Moyes, which could encourage the likes of Rhodes to take the plunge)... be very surprised if Rhodes cost more than £10m too.

dropped on saturday, failed financial fair play, could see rovers trying to offload him in January if a good offer comes in

Valencia spent €15m on a player in the summer, and Finnbogason was €8m. Who? I thought their biggest signing was the fella from Sampdoria but he only cost 8m. Otamendi cost 10 in January but it's very rare and Valencia are a bigger club than Sociedad.

Valencia's debt suggests they've probably spread the fee over a HUGE length of time. Wasn't proving a point, particularly, just knew Finnbogason was around that figure - just below, seemingly.

Real Sociedad were in the champs league two season ago, ridiculous comment saying they can't afford rhodes! I doubt moyes would be there if they had no money!

Hull being the most recent but quite a few others have bid including whilst he was here. Theyve wanted him ( so think hes good enough) but not at the price being asked.

Hope he gets there if he wants to. Think it would be a good move for him and it'll be a much better test of his abilities than the Championship has been IMO.

His form appears to have gone down hill ever since Hull last bid was rejected I think that may be coincidence. He has apparently been playing well with gestede assisting etc but not his usual prolific self, fwiw I'd like to see him in prem. The problem being on the low end teams chances are very few and far between.

Because hes as yet unproven at the top level, coaches nowadays aren't prepared to take any more risks than they have to, so go for the safer option with their £10m. Irs a shame because IMNo theres plenty of strikers in the prem who aren't as good as rhodes.

Clearly summat with Rhodes putting off Prem managers, never been a serious offer for him i dont think. If he plays 30ish games he'd def get 10-15 goals i reckon. Difference between staying up and going down for one of the lower prem teams. Seems same deal with Scotland, never had a decent run starting for them, always seems to be behind some shite in the pecking order

Don't think Rhodes has the personality and character to cut it abroad, too much of a home-body. Would be a great move for him on the pitch though.
