I saw recently two footballers passing a hot water bottle between themselves on the bench at a game. The recipient stuck it under his butt cheek. Why do they not wear hot pants like in track cycling to keep the muscles warm?

Because football despite all the advancements is still relatively in the dark ages in relation to physical preparation and development?

taking off hot pants whilst wearing thick gloves, 2 sets of jogging pants, 2 snoods and a shitload of jumpers is too hard and may result in pulling something or over exerting themselves.

Yes, and I would wager it was one of those with a fleecy lining to prevent scalding oneself - pansies !
Not like the good old days, mother would put the bottle in the bed, first a wet patch where she hadn`t tipped the excess water out of the top, then you put your legs on it, and without any safety feature present would give yourself 3rd degree burns !
