After 21 games..... 2012/13 - W8 D5 L8 - 29 points. 2013/14 - W7 D7 L7 - 28 points. 2014/15 - W6 D6 L9 - 24 points.

Depends if our second half of the season is as bad as those first 2 seasons. I would like to think we have a bit more steel about us for the business end of the season this time around but with Holts replacement an unknown I'll reserve my judgement.

Don't forget that in both previous seasons, we had a complete meltdown from this time until February. Eliminate the mid-winter crisis and we may have made progress by the end of the season.

Until the clubs ambition is to get promotion we're always going to struggle in this league.

For league games
In 2012/13 we had a 13 game winless run, and a 6 game unbeaten run In 2013/14 we had a 10 game winless run, and a 5 game unbeaten run in 2014/15 we've had a 5 game winless run, and a 7 game unbeaten run
As others have said if we avoid a long winless run we should be in a far healthier position by the spring.

doesn't mean anything until may, then we can judge overall. Plus powell hasnt had a full season and inherited an unbalanced mess of a squad from robins, which is likely why we will be really busy in Jan

What you've got to ask yourself as fairly intelligent supporters is can we actually progress any further without breaking the financial backbone of the club? We can gain some ground with the financial regulations that are being implemented and we can possibly stabilize our position in the Championship with maybe a odd dabble at the play-offs and promotion but there are clubs on the slide from the premiership who will 9x out of ten have a better chance at this than us and there will always be a Bournemouth, Blackburn, Forest or Derby who throw money at it. In all my time on DATM i've been constantly fed "reality checks" informing me how bad, poor or shyte Huddersfield Town are performing and the reality check for us supporters is that we are probably the 37th best club in England based on the criteria that dictates such positions.

Until the clubs ambition is to get promotion we're always going to struggle in this league. I'm absolutely certain it is the clubs ambition to get to the PL. It's an undeniable fact though that we cannot compete financially with the bulk of clubs in the Championship & we have to bear that in mind when we consider the issue of 'ambition'. Having an ambition is one thing, but having a realistic chance of achieving it is something completely different.

Next 3 games are eminently winnable, but a crucial period of the season, irrespective of the Jan window.
7/9 points from those games, and the whole picture changes again for the better.

ambition = money?
does the team play better in their half than our own??
that's where the 'ambition' should be.
start being more ambitious with the squad we have rather than blurting on about transfer windows and who we can/cant afford..
If we had a better goals against over the past couple of seasons you could understand the approach, our goals against has been shite for two and half seasons and its hardly any better with Hudson coming in etc.. change what we do rather than this obsession with money and the never ending calls for new centre halves or strikers. Even if we have a splendid transfer window, playing a defensive set up and holding game wont work for Town.

Don't think you can comment on if we are making progress or not until the end of the season when we know what position we've finished

Doing better than Brighton and three other clubs that spend gazillions more than us, it could be a lot worse.

Still got Boro, Forest, Bournemouth, Brentford, Massives, Charlton, Brighton aways to play too, we aren't going to get much out of that lot.

Still got Boro, Forest, Bournemouth, Brentford, Massives, Charlton, Brighton aways to play too, we aren't going to get much out of that lot. We might lose them all - we might win them all - but nothing to be fearful of. I feel we are more competitive this season - albeit in a more competitive division. There is much less dross in the division than previous seasons.
