An excellently organised defence in the first half after conceding 5 in the last 45mins played would seem to be a good reaction to me.
I didn't expect for one minute a gungho swashbuckling aatacking performance, from a manager who was a former defender.

Sorry, but we should have been targeting this as one of our more winnable games of the season. I understand keeping things tight after a 5-0 defeat, but we have been okay at home recently. And even if you accept that we were trying to keep it tight in the first half, an extra striker should have come on long before they actually did. IMO Smithies mistake only cost us a point because we never played for three.

I didn't expect for one minute a gungho swashbuckling aatacking performance, from a manager who was a former defender. But did you expect him to at least try and win the game? You don't have to be 'gungho' to attack the opposition with some sort of conviction. You seem to be suggesting that for us to have a go at Birmingham (a side in a similar position to us in the league) would have been reckless. The only way we will stay in this division is by winning a reasonable number of our home games (we certainly can't rely on getting anything away). This was a game we would reasonably expect to have a good chance of winning. There was no need for such a defensive approach. No need at all. Smithies mistake meant we lost the game, but lets be honest, the best we would have got today was 0-0. Not even close to being good enough.

spineless and hopeless, ended up being useless... if you don't try and win a football match chances are you wont.
5-0 defeat was against Norwich, away and we had 10 men for most of it, why the fuck would that even enter your head for this week???
if you are hoping to sneak something and you lose, you deserve all the shit you get..
to charge money to watch the appalling standards that were set today is downright fucking cheeky, Hoyle runs this club and he is paying the wages and he needs to get a fucking grip. He cannot allow the sunday morning football to be accepted at a championship club. Its not about money, we were not playing a 'money team' today, Brentfords wage bill will be less than ours, we have no fucking excuses and everyone ought to stop taking this shit from the club.

After 15 minutes it was clear the set up was wrong and the game was winnable. A change was needed at that time.
No sin in calling the game wrong. But not re-acting within the game is not good enough for a manager at any level.

The catalyst(Holt) hit the buffers. He might as well go back now.
At least Ward up on his own would have shown some pace against their centre backs.
have show speed

But not re-acting within the game is not good enough for a manager at any level. Agreed. It was obvious as the first half progressed that despite scoring 6 last week Brum were not that good and were very beatable. We should have gone at them from the off in the second half, but we actually got worse. Having seen we had little to fear Powell should have been making attacking subs far, far earlier. It was totally unrealistic to expect Vaughan and Wells to turn the game around in 15 mins. Should have been on with at least 30 mins to go.

Wonder wat tactics we will do, Pathetic Birmingham manager Gary Rowett told BBC WM: "As a gritty away performance to follow up a magnificent result at home, you couldn't ask for more. "I just felt we weren't positive enough in the first half, and at half-time, we said to the lads either we can look to get a 0-0 and try to nick one, or we can aim to get higher up the pitch and take the game more to them, which is what we did. "They really responded and we controlled more of the game." Shame Chris Powell didn't think the same.

I didn't expect for one minute a gungho swashbuckling aatacking performance, from a manager who was a former defender. There's gung ho and there's having 9 men in our own half when we are on the break. Pathetic defensive performance clearly orchestrated by the manager. He has questions to answer, this is very much relegation form. Perhaps also telling everyone how busy we'll be in January isn't the best thing to do from a morale perspective. How many in today's team know they probably won't be starting in a months time. At least we got a definitive answer to the Peltier question, he was garbage, dread to think how much we are paying our reserve right back over three years, good work Ross, I guess you won't be sucking each other's cocks over that one. Feel a bit sorry for Gerrard who gave away the free kick for the goal.Donaldson just ran into him - did not think it was even a foul.

Typical of this forum a massive over reaction. We could easily have won today, Powell got it wrong, he will know this, move on, beat Rovrum and shut Nick up.

Agree that we should learn from this but in what way could we 'easily' have won? I thought you had to score goals to win? We showed no intent to do this until too late
