I think we need this lad in the team. He's lively, has an eye for goal and can make things happen. Not sure who would give way, but just do it Chris!

Might be wrong, but was he sat behind Vaughan/Wells on Saturday when he came on? Almost certain he wasn't playing out left, and Scannell was still out right. I'm sure he seemed to be lingering towards the centre.
I wonder if he'd suit this sort of position. Seems quick on his feet and capable of dancing around players, perhaps he'd be an ideal CAM.

Was he on long enough for anyone to know where he was meant to be playing?! Should've been on at least 30 mins earlier. Baffling/Ridiculous/Pointless sub by Powell

IIRC, he played that role in pre-season in Robins's 3-5-2 (as the most advanced of the central three).

Having seen Lolley regularly for the development team its a crying shame this guy has not been given more first team time. He has everything we were missing from the start of the game at the weekend ie passion, drive, creativity and an eye for goal. I have heard all of the guff about it being too soon for him to play first team football however when you look at how in and out some of our players have been as of late then he is surely worth a start.

He dropped into the centre, replacing Scannell who had moved into that position a few mins before (possibly unnoticed as I think we only had the ball past the half way line once after he shifted)...but he did drift to inside right.

The wingers aren't the problem, Lolley shouldn't be in before Scanz or Bunn... it was the pussy approach of the manager that's why we lost on saturday

My mate keeps telling me that Powell doesn't like using subs if he can help it, but even so it seemed a bizarre decision to leave it 'til the 89th minute to bring on a 3rd sub. does he expect Lolley (or anyone else for that matter) to do with so little time? Scoring / creating 2 from that starting point only happens in Roy of the Rovers. Was Hogg injured when he went off?

He actually looks quite good when he comes on, direct, he forced a great save from the Birmingham keeper late on on Saturday.

he came on as an attacking midfielder and looked good in his 5 minutes, think he deserves a chance to show us what he's got!

He creates actual chances rather than creates progressive looking play that ultimately gets nowhere (which is part of the reason why we had about 2 shots on target on Saturday).

the 3 subs needed 20 odd minutes on Saturday.. if you are not going to start these players then at least don't take the piss out of them with silly late substitutions...we didn't even have the excuse of being 0-0 and holding onto what we had.

In answer to terraceterrier the answer is that having watched Lolley in the under 21s he is fairly consistent as against Billing and Gobbern who are not. Billing should come through however in my eyes still needs to toughen up a bit. With regard to Gobbern we have seen him at first team level and his performances have not stood out. I think that in the transfer window Gobbern may be one of those who leaves ( If the opportunity arises) to make way for a more attacking minded option.
