You can also add sick note Vaughan to the list. Jesus.. He's our best striker by miles! Do you think we'd be playing Championship football today if it wasn't for Vaughan's goals? Short memories.. Never forget Beckford's contribution: When he didn't play he didn't score

No Danny Ward on the bench today. Guessing he's off. Shame as he would have been a better option to bring on to replace Vaughan and hold onto the ball.

Counting today's goal, Vaughan has now scored the grand total of 34 league goals in his pathetic 139 league games since making his debut in April 2005, which is almost 10 years ago. Some striker is that man Vaughan's and if he's the best we can come up with then it's no wonder Town are struggling top find the net on a regular basis. As for the defence, 41 goals conceded along with Fulham, is the worst in the entire division.
So, what we need in January is a striker we can rely upon and a complete new defence who understand the basic art of defending.
We are now at the half way stage on 25 points with everything to play for and, providing Powell tightens up our defence we have fuck all to fear regarding our survival chances.

Luckily, Opta do. 31/37 completed passes for Gerrard v. Birmingham; admittedly, not all to midfielders, but here they all are (thanks to Squawka). Oh, green for completed, red for not completed. Damn you marco4! Apologies to Captain Slapper for treating his figures with contempt. If it makes you feel any better Bob, nearly every single one of his forward passes failed to reach their destination.

Far more than any other town striker since we've been in the championship.. Take Holt for example, 2 goals in 15 is an abysmal return, yet he can do no wrong in some fans eyes.

I will however give you a clue. One of them has a double barrelled second name, the first part is Van.

The system we're playing requires excellent fullbacks, yet ours seem to be our weakest link.

I honestly wouldn't be bothered if any of them left, although who'd be daft enough to sign them? seriously is there one player in that squad who would go to a team higher up the league? let alone the premier league? bang average players sat on massive contracts.Peltier on a 3 year deal ffs!!why would he move when he's got 3 years money and doesn't contribute anything?Same with Gobern he's been stealing a wage for 3 years and offered absolutely nothing. Unless major changes are made in January (which is unlikely)then that team is going down, unfortunately without a fight.

we were not good yesterday, we were adequate until the last 20 minutes.. we got a 2 goal start and never really looked under that much danger of losing it. we then self implode by changing what we are doing, forget subs etc it does not have to mean a full reverse and a mass 'sit in' near our own goal. its not the personnel so much as the tactics we often employ that simply don't work.
not too sure that we can even give some of the players away and that's annoying because they can all play a bit, we have witnessed this..

Other clubs would sign them for their ability I'm sure......attitude and mental aptitude less so. Look no further than ward and hammill.

The system we're playing requires excellent fullbacks, yet ours seem to be our weakest link. The system we're playing requires no full backs, that's the problem. Robinson has to do everything on the left and Scannell is forced to spend most of his time defending. Surely our first goal shows just how much we need 4 at the back to allow Smith to get forwards more with Scannell?

Most of our team would have improved Rotherham, they were poor. A few moments of good football but that was it.

Agree they were poor but we couldn't beat them and fell apart when the game was won! could you honestly see Town getting a result from 2 down with 5 minutes to go?

Decent players wont be available in Jan, it will be those who are not good enough or consistent at their present clubs, so why struggle on

So we are all saying we need to strengthen to stay up and push on up the league. So who would you sign in January to improve us and what would your team be come the end of January?
I think we need a new Right back, Centre Back, Defensive Mid, Winger and a striker
Right back - Liam palmer (sheff weds) Centre back - Boyata (Man city loan)? Defensive Mid - Dean Hammond (Leicester), Yacob (west brom) Winger - Knockaert (Leicester), Sinclair (man city on loan)? Striker - Afobe (MK Dons) Dwight Gayle (palace Loan)? Don't think we need a target man as think Vaughan is enough!
These players will cost a fair amount of money on wages mainly but surely if we want to push on we have to start spending sometime. Every/most other clubs in this division are doing it and we must keep up.

liked palmer a lot when we played them but we all know what happens when we sign players who play well against us their usually gash. Maguire on loan from hull could be a good option as could dwight gayle think most of others you mentioned are well out of our budget tbh especially yacob and sinclair.
