i honestly think there is a deal of apathy as far as football is now concerned. People would rather throw money at SKY and be glory hunting couch potatoes then go down to the ground, sit down for 90+ minutes in the bloody cold, and watch overpayed and overhyped so-called professional athletes throwing themselves around like they've been shot.

I'm afraid we have only won the FA Cup once sadly, but we have been runners up on a few occasions! Correct. And even when we won it we played crap. Some fans on here seem to think we should be playing like Real Madrid .. If anything sums up your typical Town fan this is it - we won the FA Cup once (and during an era when it was valued) - how many clubs would like that on their honours list? But no we have to qualify it by saying we played crap!

No, Ben - the point I am making is that there's an awful lot of people on this site who seem to think that we should be playing wonderful flowing football and putting 'lesser teams' to the sword with alarming regularity. You know, like we used to do in League One ... But it shouldn't be the case. If you read the back of these cards you will see that the critics of the day saw the 1922 FC Final as "the most disagreeable of all the finals ..." played up until 1935. "There were many fouls, the majority of a technical kind ... " "... No scoring took place in a very uninteresting first half ..." Where have we read this kind of criticism recently? So, even when we went on to achieve (one of) our greatest achievements, we had to grind out a result in what was a very poor game. Not unlike some of today's performances, no? We're doing OK.

Winning the FA Cup isn't just about how you play in the final though is it? The achievement is more tainted by the fact it was nigh on 100 years ago.

We could have played really well - and LOST! Fact is, we didn't play well - but we WON! I wonder what some of today's purists/armchair fans would prefer ... success or the knowledge that we play good stuff? And yes, I DO accept that SOMETIMES the two of them do coincide ...

I and others clearly don't expect us to play great or even good football, every game, all game. I expect us also to be put under pressure and I don't expect us to keep too many clean sheets..
I do however, expect us to compete physically on the pitch and I do expect us to try and produce the best football we can which is suited to the team/squad we have.. That's all..
long, high, hopeful as a tactic is a big no,no. defending inside or on the edge of our box as a tactic is a no, no..
when we play as little as possible of both the above, it matters not who we are playing, we compete and we make the game. we might not win them all but we get closer to doing so in the games we lose or draw.

The crowd today is pathetic town fans. With the match day pricing, is stopping town fans from coming down. Chuffing shite attendance town fans, very embarrassing indeed!!!!!! The crowd wasn't brilliant that day but i wouldn't call it pathetic. What i would call pathetic is Blackburn V Swansea not even 6,000 for a 4th round tie against a decent premiership club.
